Greg Abbott announced Tuesday that starting March 10, business capacity limits and the state’s mask mandate would be lifted. H-E-B and Kroger responded to Abbott’s executive order saying they will continue to require all employees to wear masks while encouraging customers to do the same. We encourage all customers visiting our stores to continue to wear a mask to protect themselves, those around them, and our associates. H-E-B donates $1 million to Texas food banks to help those in need after winter storm
HOUSTON – H-E-B is going above and beyond to make sure Texans have food on their table by donating $1 million to food banks across Texas. According to a news release, working directly with food banks affiliated with Feeding Texas, H-E-B’s donation will support 18 food banks throughout the state. So far, the Texas grocery chain has donated 23 truckloads of food and $100,000 in Meal Simple meals to food banks, per the release. H-E-B also responded to the ongoing water crisis in Texas by partnering with Zen Water and Florida-based Publix, who each donated 10 truckloads of water to Texas food banks this week. All donations will support Texas food banks with Feeding Texas.

Man accused of taking photos up women's skirts at an HEB in Pearland, according to police. PEARLAND, Texas – A man is accused of taking cellphone photos up women’s skirts at an H-E-B in Pearland, according to the police department. The incident was reported around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the H-E-B location on 2710 Pearland Pkwy. Police released surveillance photos of the suspect in hopes of leading to the identification of the man. The Butt family, owners of Texas-based grocery store H-E-B, rank among America’s wealthiest families in 2020, according to a list compiled by Forbes. 15 out of 50 of the richest families in the U.S., all worth at least $7.3 billion. According to Forbes, the family behind H-E-B is worth $17.8 billion, up from $11 billion five years ago, according to My San Antonio. Forbes’ last ranking of “America’s Richest Families,” curated in 2016, put the Butt family at the No. From 2016 to 2020, H-E-B experienced an approximate increase of $8 billion in revenue.

Doctor unable to get coronavirus vaccine at his hospital turns to pharmacy for shot
HOUSTON – A doctor who has been treating coronavirus patients said his hospital has not offered him the vaccine, so he decided to head to a pharmacy to get the shot. Dr. Lance Blau has diabetes, and his wife, Emily, is 19-weeks pregnant. They said they wanted to get the COVID-19 vaccine as quickly as possible since they are both in the high risk categories. “To be honest, we were both shocked and frustrated… I mean he works with COVID patients every day,” Emily Blau said. You have to have a number of people taking the vaccine within a six-hour period to make it work,” Emily Blau said.
Houston Methodist will soon start notifying patients to set up vaccine appointments
HOUSTON – Houston area hospitals and clinics that offer COVID-19 vaccinations are currently evaluating how to prioritize patients who qualify to receive a vaccine under Phase 1B of the state’s rollout. “Phase 1B can be interpreted differently by different people. Houston Methodist said Thursday certain patients will soon start getting notifications to schedule appointments for their coronavirus shot. Officials said they will soon start notifying patients via a text message in the following order:Patients who are 75 or older. On Wednesday, the Texas Department of State Health Services said vaccine providers can begin administering the vaccine to people in Phase 1B.

H-E-B says it will administer coronavirus vaccine when it becomes available
HOUSTON – H-E-B will be one of the places where you can get the coronavirus vaccine when it becomes available. The Texas-based grocer said Thursday that its pharmacies will partner with federal and state governments to provide the vaccine to the general public. A federal panel voted this week to make the first doses of the vaccine available to health care workers and long-term care facility residents. Some experts have said it may be spring or summer before the vaccine is widely available to the general public. According to the CDC, doses of the vaccine purchased with taxpayer money will be given to people at no cost.

H-E-B awarding all full-time, part-time employees with $500 bonuses
H-E-B employees are being awarded for their hard work yet again. According to KSAT, KPRC’s sister station, H-E-B is awarding all of its partners with $500 bonuses as a thank you for facing “each obstacle with grace, compassion, strength, and resilience” in 2020. The Texas-based company notified KSAT regarding the bonuses on Wednesday and said all full-time and part-time H-E-B employees will receive the bonus via direct deposit on Friday. What started out as a survey to see who Texans would vote for if the presidential election were today turned out to reveal just how much state residents love Whataburger, H-E-B and more. The survey conducted by YouGov found that 3 to 4% more Texans favor President Trump over Democratic nominee and former Vice President Joe Biden. The organization then went on to ask Texans about some non-political figures including restaurants, stores, athletes and more. So, what’s up with H-E-B cutting off El Paso on the new soda can?
EL PASO, Texas – The people of the internet are up in arms because of an image of an H-E-B soda can with a drawing of Texas where El Paso seems to have inadvertently been cut off. A Reddit user shared the image in the El Paso subreddit that showed the H-E-B Original Cola can with a logo of Texas missing the far western corner of the state. People have commented on the post saying things like, “Guess that explains why they don’t have any (H-E-B) stores here,” or “That’s it, we’re joining New Mexico.”According to the El Paso Times, H-E-B reassured El Pasoans that the Texas-based grocery chain “loves every inch” if the state, no matter what a can of soda shows. “The design on the can is adjusted to include the nutrition label ... and the design varies on the cans, bottles, and the 12-pack box and reflects the entire state in the total design package,” Dya Campos, a media representative for H-E-B, said. Woman streams self having teary ‘panic attack’ at H-E-B after she said she was refused at checkout for not wearing mask
CEDAR PARK, Texas – A Texas woman recorded herself having a “panic attack” at an H-E-B in Cedar Park, Texas near Austin after she claims employees refused to check out her groceries as she was not wearing a mask in violation of store policy. The undated video was posted on the “public freakout” subreddit after the woman went on Facebook Live about the incident. In the video, the woman said she complained to a store manager after she said she was harassed by customers about not wearing a mask. The woman also said she has anxiety and PTSD.
