Seasonably hot temperatures today, but rain showers will be elusive.
Morning temperatures are a touch more comfortable than they have been all week, thanks to some dry air that has filtered into the area from the north.
That said, after starting the day in the upper 60s to low 70s, we're still in for another hot day. Lunch time temperatures will be near 90 degrees with afternoon highs near 94. Because of lower humidity levels, the heat index should hover near 100. Still hot, but a bit of relief from the extreme heat earlier this week.
With drier air in place, rain chances are slim to none today. Our next decent chance for rain comes on Sunday.
The central Gulf of Mexico remains active with what will likely become Tropical Storm Claudette later today. The storm will track north into southeast Louisiana early Saturday morning, bringing heavy rains from New Orleans to the Florida Panhandle.
The storm will actually help to keep Houston dry, as we are on its west side -- or clean side.
Have a great Friday, everyone!
