The chase ended in a field near a river off County Road 4 and County Road 522. According to Rosenberg police, the vehicle was reported stolen from Beeville. The vehicle traveled into Brazoria County before crashing through a fence and get stuck in the mud. According to police, 10 to 15 people jumped from the truck and ran into the brush.

HOUSTON โ A University of Houston freshman football player is accused of choking his girlfriend during an argument, court records show. Chidozie Nwankwo (Harris County Sheriff's Office)Records indicate that Nwankwoโs girlfriend of three years said she was choked during a heated argument on Jan. 28 at Nwankwoโs apartment where sheโd been staying. The argument, she claims in court documents, started when she asked him for help with her hair. According to the University of Houston, Nwankwo is defensive lineman. Motorcyclist who fled traffic stop busted in Sugar Land when he ran out of gas, police say
A motorcyclist who fled police during a traffic stop was caught, police said, when he stopped for gas in Sugar Land, police said Friday. According to Rosenberg Police, Fernando Verdin ignored an officerโs attempt to pull him over and sped away; however, was caught by Sugar Land Police Department officers when he stopped to get gas. Verdin was arrested and taken to county jail. The 24-year-old now faces a state jail felony of evading arrest or detention in a motor vehicle.

75-year-old man reported missing in Rosenberg found dead, Texas EquuSearch says
ROSENBERG, Texas โ Texas EquuSearch ended the search Saturday morning for a 75-year-old man who was last seen in Rosenberg. Officials said the body of Benito Gutierrez was found in the Brazos River a short time after beginning their search. Volunteers with Texas Equusearch conducted a search near the Brazos River and U.S. Highway 59. Gutierrez was last seen alive Thursday. After the discovery of his body, Texas Equusearch posted an update saying โwe ask that everyone please keep Benito Gutierrezโs family and friends in your thoughts and prayers during this tragic times in their lives.โ

Garcia tells KPRC Christian was friends with one of his attackers and was asked to pick him up. โHe went to pick them up and the two other people got in the backseat and he started driving,โ said Garcia. Diamond Hosey, 24, appears to have a swollen eye and injuries to her face in a booking photo on the Fort Bend County Jailโs website. Gritman said her daughter suffered the injuries as she was arrested by officers in Rosenberg over the weekend. The Fort Bend County District Attorneyโs Office weighed in as well. When asked whether Hosey did anything to prompt a physical response from the officer, Gritman said Hosey didnโt mention anything about that.

The incident happened Nov. 1 at the Harry Wright Junior High School, according to the Rosenberg Police Department. Police said he also cut open locks to storage boxes outside the school and stole tools from there. The man caused more than $1,300 in damages to the school and made off with over $10,000 worth of tools, police said.
Police: Man killed in crash on US 59 near Rosenberg after hitting animal, stopping his car on freeway
ROSENBERG, Texas โ A man was hit and killed Wednesday after stopping his car on a freeway when he hit an animal near Rosenberg, police said. The crash was reported about 8 a.m. on the northbound side of U.S. Highway 59 near Reading Road. According to Rosenberg police, the man was headed northbound on the freeway when his car hit an animal. Police said the man stopped his vehicle on the freeway and an 18-wheeler then slammed into the back of his car, killing the man. The driver of the tractor-trailer stayed at the scene, and police said they do not believe charges will be filed.

ROSENBERG, Texas โ Of the important decisions voters from Lamar Consolidated ISD had to ponder Tuesday, perhaps the biggest came down to the bottom line. On the ballot were four propositions -- two related to education, infrastructure, and technology for district students -- two others related to athletics. But Props B & C -- asking for more than $125 million for a second stadium and two new practice swimming pools -- a fail. More than 50% of voters like Scott Hartzell voted no. Iโm a former athlete myself in high school and college so I support atheltics,โ Hartzell said.

HOUSTON โ NBCโs โThe Voiceโ returned this week for more rounds of blind auditions, and Rosenberg, Texas native John Holiday surprised audiences with his powerful rendition of โMistyโ by Ella Fitzgerald. During his performance, three of the coaches spun around their chairs and seemed surprised to see John standing before them. This guy is singing in a soprano range,โ said Holiday. This ability to hit such high notes is something John has been working on from a very young age. HOUSTON โ The city of Lake Jackson is moving to enforce a โBoil waterโ notice, according to a press release from Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. The boil notice lifts the โDo not useโ water advisory, which was in response to an ongoing water issue after a brain eating amoeba was found in the cityโs water system. State and local officials said they are working on a plan to flush and disinfect the water system. Do not jump into or put your head under bathing water. The advisory was lifted for all areas excluding Lake Jackson on Saturday morning.
Lamar CISD students, staff test positive for coronavirus as district plans to reopen schools
ROSENBERG โ A few days before students head back to class, Lamar Consolidated Independent School District announced Thursday night several new coronavirus cases within the district during a school board meeting. Two George Ranch High school students have tested positive this week for COVID-19, while five employees also tested positive since returning to campus on August 10. The district also said 65 employees have reported positive results as of Wednesday. Of those employees, 11 of them are quarantined at home, and nine of those people are working remotely. According to the district, 55% of students opted for virtual learning while 45% of students selected for in-person.
Man stabbed dog during burglary attempt in Fort Bend County, authorities say
HOUSTON โ A man stabbed a homeownerโs dog during an attempted burglary in Fort Bend County, authorities say. The incident happened on June 23 at 9:43 a.m. in the 500 block of San Carlos in the Rosenberg area. Fort Bend County Sheriffโs deputies say when they arrived at the scene, theyโd found that Julian Olvera, 21, had stabbed the dog. Olvera, of Rosenberg, was booked into the Fort Bend County Jail. He is charged with burglary of habitation, a first-degree felony with a $20,000 bond.
As COVID-19 cases climb, city and county leaders seek to increase testing sites
HOUSTON โ Houston and surrounding counties are moving to increase testing capacity as the COVID-19 infection rate continues to climb. On Monday, Fort Bend County opened its fifth COVID-19 testing site at 9 a.m. at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Rosenberg. Within an hour, the free testing site had reached its 100 clients daily capacity. The city of Houstonโs two, free, drive-through test sites at Butler and Delmar stadiums can perform a combined 1,000 tests daily. โStarting tomorrow, we will be increasing the testing capability capacity at both sites, Delmar and Butler, to 650 per site,โ Turner said.
Houston police officer who died in head-on crash was intoxicated, investigators say
ROSENBERG, Texas โ A Houston police officer who was driving the wrong way on the highway when she slammed into a big rig and died in Sealy was driving while drunk, investigators said. Based on toxicology reports, DPS troopers concluded that Gizelle Solorio, 32, was intoxicated at the time of the collision. Investigators determined this was also a contributing factor in the December 2019 crash. Investigators said Solorio was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-10 when she was in a head-on collision with the 18-wheeler in the crash. Solorio worked with the Houston Police Department for about 2.5 years and graduated from the cadet class 230 as the class president, according to HPD Commander Chandra Hatcher.

ROSENBERG, Texas โ Police are searching for a man believed to be connected to the slaying of his estranged wife in Rosenberg on Wednesday. According to Rosenberg police, officers received a call about 10 p.m. regarding a domestic disturbance at a home in the 800 block of San Jacinto Street. Police said Tomas Maldonado, 50, is believed to have made threats against the woman in the days leading up to her death. Attack Poverty and Texas Roadhouse team up to get 2,000 meals to Rosenberg families in need
ROSENBERG, Texas โ With thousands out of work in the Houston-area, various charities and businesses are teaming up to help those in need. Fridayโs helpers were a combination of a Houston-area non-profit and restaurant chain Texas Roadhouse. Non-profit Attack Poverty has partnered with 30 organizations to help with the COVID-19 crisis, according to CEO Brandon Baca. The Rosenberg Texas Roadhouse stepped in and offered 2,000 meals worth of pork barbecue, bread rolls, chips plus fruit from Brothers Produce. โItโs really important for us at a time like this when times are uncertain,โ said Katie Frazier from Texas Roadhouse.

Employee dies after being trapped inside concrete hopper car in Rosenberg, sheriffโs deputies say
ROSENBERG, Texas โ Fort Bend County sheriffโs deputies are investigating after a man died from being trapped inside a concrete hopper car at a plant Thursday morning, they said. Deputies said the incident happened in Rosenberg near 59 and Daily Road at around 12:55 a.m. According to deputies, a caller said the man was unconscious and they couldnโt see if he was breathing or had a pulse. When deputies arrived at the concrete plant, they found the victim trapped inside the hopper. Deputies said the man was an employee, but he hasnโt been identified.
Worker killed in trench collapse in Rosenberg identified
ROSENBERG, Texas โ A worker killed Wednesday when a trench collapsed on him in Rosenberg has been identified. The collapse was reported at 12:23 p.m. on FM Road 2218 between Bryan and Danziger roads. Authorities said that three workers were laying lines in the 8-foot-deep trench when the collapse happened. According to authorities, about 30 first responders, including the specially trained Fort Bend County Technical Response Team, were called to the scene in an effort to rescue Gonzalez. โItโs very dangerous work to be working in a trench, anything can happen.

Fort Bend County deputies wrangle gator that โlikes long walksโ in Rosenberg neighborhood
HOUSTON โ Fort Bend County Sheriffโs deputies had a snappy Saturday as they wrangled an alligator that wandered into a Rosenberg subdivision. Officials say the gator was seen walking along Reading Road in Bonbrook Plantation in Rosenberg, Texas. Deputies had good humor about the incident, tweeting, โPets are required to be on a leash. Alligators are native to the area and are in most bodies of water in the area. They also said he โlikes long walks.โFort Bend County officials say the gator was relocated to the Brazos River.
All lanes reopened after massive 18-wheeler fire closes 59 northbound near Highway 36
HOUSTON โ A flaming 18-wheeler spilled oil and closed all lanes of I-69 northbound just north of Highway 36 for hours Monday. As of 6:20 p.m., the wreck and oil have been cleared. All traffic was diverted to Highway 36 as officials worked to clean up the spilled oil and clear the wreck.
