According to the Richmond Police Department, Patti Ann Pollard, 40, was involved in an altercation with Kyon Mitchell, 42, near the 140 block of Collins Road. Mitchell left that scene in a truck and Pollard left in her own car, authorities said.

While Pollard was driving on Preston Street, police said Mitchell ran her off the road. Pollard then got out of her vehicle and began walking on Preston Street, at which point Mitchell ran her over with the truck he took from the original location, police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said Mitchell went to authorities and told them he had been involved in an accident. After further investigation and witness statements, authorities said they were able to identify Mitchell as the suspect and he was subsequently charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault/family violence.

Authorities said the two had an on-again-off-again dating relationship for several years.
