Houston Transtar estimates 10 to 15% lower, to be exact, area-wide when comparing August 2019 to 2020. However, weekday afternoon peak numbers are seeing an uptick. Houston Transtar even says volumes are pretty much in line with what we saw in 2019. This same stretch of roadway, Katy Freeway at Voss, afternoon volumes were only down 2% in the afternoon compared to last year. Overall, when it comes to vehicle traffic volumes, the impacts of the pandemic are still being felt.

HOUSTON – Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo held a news conference Monday afternoon to urge residents to prepare for Tropical Storm Beta. Hidalgo was joined by other Harris County officials including meteorologist and Director of Flood Operations, Jeff Lindner. “At any moment, anywhere in Harris County, we could see heavy rain and possibly flooding," Hidalgo said. HOUSTON – An overturned cement truck Wednesday morning closed part of Interstate 610 South Loop at Interstate 45 Gulf Freeway. The crash was reported about 10:40 a.m. on the westbound side of the South Loop just before I-45. Video from a Houston Transtar camera showed traffic was being forced off I-610 in the area. CONROE, Texas – A hazmat spill Monday has prompted the closure of one side of Interstate 45 near Conroe. The heavy-truck crash was reported about 3:10 a.m. on the southbound side of the freeway near FM Road 3083. According to Houston Transtar, all lanes of the southbound side of the freeway are closed. BROOKSHIRE, Texas – A crash on Tuesday briefly closed a section of Interstate 10 in Brookshire. The two-vehicle crash was reported at 1:36 p.m. on the eastbound side of the freeway at FM 359. By 2:30 p.m. the roads were reopened after the crash was cleared. Video from a Houston Transtar camera in the area showed traffic at a standstill in the area. The nature of the crash was not immediately clear.

A truck fire blocked three lanes of traffic on the Katy Freeway eastbound at Park Ten Friday morning. According to Houston TranStar, the fire broke out just before 8:30 a.m. The driver was able to safely pull onto the shoulder near Park Ten. Authorities said after the fire was put out, the truck started to leak fuel. HazMat crews are on the scene working to clean up the spill and to prevent any leakage from reaching nearby storm drains, officials said.
