Motorcyclist dead after truck strikes him following crash on I-10 Katy Freeway, police say

HOUSTON – A motorcyclist is dead after Houston police said he collided with a tractor-trailer truck on I-10 Katy Freeway near Mason Road Friday morning.

Police said a man riding a Triumph motorcycle when witnesses said he and a white-colored Ford Escape merged into the same lane of traffic, striking the backside of the vehicle.

The man fell off of his motorcycle, and that is when the tractor-trailer truck had struck him, according to police.

The truck did not stop to help the motorcyclist and instead drove off.

The driver in the Ford Escape was questioned by officers but was later released.

I-10 Katy Freeway inbound near Mason Road was shut down for hours as authorities investigated the crash.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information on the driver of the tractor-trailer truck is urged to call Houston Police Hit and Run Unit at 713-247-4072.
