Investigation underway after woman found shot to death inside NW Houston home, police say
HOUSTON โ An investigation is underway after a woman was found shot to death inside her residence Friday morning in northwest Houston, police said. โWhen they arrived, they werenโt able to make contact with anyone inside the residence. However, they were able to reach the daughter of the homeowner who was listed on alarm permit info,โ Rothberg said. Houston police said the womanโs body was found by officers and family members during a welfare check. Detectives are currently looking for surveillance video in the neighborhood that may help with the investigation.

Parent of 5-year-old suing former MLB player Carl Crawford for $1M over drowning at Houston home
HOUSTON โ The parent of a 5-year-old boy is suing former professional baseball player Carl Crawford for $1 million over a drowning that happened at a home in northwest Houston on May 17. The child, Kasen, Hersi, and 25-year-old Bethany Lartigue died after drowning at Crawfordโs home in the 1400 block of Mansfield Street, according to the Houston Police Department. Officials said Lartigue reportedly jumped into the pool to save Hersi who was having trouble. They were transported to the Memorial Hermann Greater Heights, where they were later pronounced dead. The parent is seeking compensation for pecuniary losses, mental anguish and more.

HOUSTON โ Friday Update: The boil water notice that was issued Wednesday for some people in northwest Harris County due to a water main break, has been lifted Friday evening, officials announced in a news release. โThe public water system has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore the quality of the water distributed by this public water system used for drinking water or human consumption purposes and has provided TCEQ with laboratory test results that indicate that the water no longer requries boiling prior to use as of today,โ officials wrote. Woman accused of abandoning niece at Willowbrook Mallโs playground area
HOUSTON โ A woman is accused of abandoning her niece in the Willowbrook Mall playground area on Friday, according to court records. Alicia Perez-Zuniga, 26, was charged with abandoning a child with intent to return after Houston police said she left her 3-year-old niece at the playground while she went shopping. Police said Perez-Zuniga showed back up to the play area around 3:30 p.m. looking for the child. Police said officials returned the child to her mother and Perez-Zuniga was arrested. Perez-Zuniga was booked into Harris County Jail and her bond set at $1,000.
Woman found dead as HFD responds to apartment fire in NW Houston, officials say
HOUSTON โ A woman was found dead after the Houston Fire Department responded to an apartment fire Wednesday in northwest Houston, officials said. The fire was detected to be coming from a first-floor apartment, officials said. When firefighters entered the apartment, they found the woman dead on a burning couch and immediately pulled her outside, but it is unclear if the cause of death was due to the fire or something else. Relatives identified her as Verma Moore, 67. The cause of the fire is under investigation by HFD Arson investigators while HPD Homicide detectives try to determine exactly how Moore died.
Construction professionals advise homeowners to get home inspected after explosion in northwest Houston
HOUSTON โ Many homeowners asset the next steps for the recovery after an explosion Friday morning at a local company damaged more than 200 homes. A Houston-based construction company is advising residents to get their home inspected, and if possible for free. Marcelo Parrott lives a quarter-mile from the site of the explosion in northwest Houston. Laney said regardless of how little the damage looks, she recommends that homeowners get their home inspected by a reputable construction company that can provide a report. Homeowners should also do their due diligence to be aware of the scope of the damage, she said.

Family: Man pistol-whipped, gun held to childโs head in violent home invasion
HOUSTON โ A family is shaken after robbers broke into their northwest Houston home, held them at gunpoint and demanded money. Family members said six people were involved in the invasion. Once inside, the robbers pistol-whipped a man and forced him into the apartment next door, where the manโs sister lived, the family said. โThatโs when they shot the gun," said a family member who did not want to be identified. Then robbers then put the pistol to a childโs head and demanded cash, but when the family didnโt have any, the robbers became violent, family members said.
