Ice skating at Discovery GreenThe Ice Rink powered by Green Mountain Energy opened at 5 p.m. on Friday the 13th at Discovery Green Park. If you are coming with someone who is skating, you wonโt be allowed in the ice rink area unless youโre with a child younger than 10 years old. Houston radio station Sunny 99.1 announced Thursday they will begin airing Christmas music starting at 5 p.m. Friday, earlier than the usual mid-November launch. The station said in a blog post that despite what 2020 has brought in, listeners โcould use some extra cheer." Houstonians can begin listening to โongoingโ holiday hits and classics plus special holiday programming beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, on Sunny 99.1 FM, using the iHeartRadio app, or virtally on an internet-connected device. UH to open 2020 football season at Baylor next weekend
The University of Houston will open the 2020 season at Baylor University on Sept. 19 at McLane Stadium, both programs announced Saturday. This televised matchup marks the first meeting between the two football programs since 1995. Baylor leads the all-time series, 14-13-1, with the first meeting between the two schools coming in 1950, according to the press release. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m.โWe are excited to have the opportunity to open the 2020 season at Baylor,โ UH Vice President for Athletics Chris Pezman said. We are excited to give our student-athletes a chance to compete on a national stage to begin a new season.โ

Taste of the NFL
The Taste of the NFLโs 26th annual Party With a Purpose is giving the students at the University of Houston the chance to sharpen their skills. Georgea Pappas, with Pappas Restaurants, is giving a crash course in knife skills. For the 35 UH students taking the class, itโs more than just earning a few hours of class credit. Each student will be volunteering as a sort of sous chef for the Taste of the NFLโs Party With a Purpose. More information can be found at Taste of the NFL.
