Say hello to 1883 Adolph & Regina Frenkel House, an architectural gem located in the Island’s Silk Stocking Historic District. The home is one of three near-identical Folk Victorian houses built by the Galveston Real Estate and Loan Association. Say hello to The 1916 Runge House, an architectural gem located in the Island’s East End Historical District. Architect Anton F. Korn, a representative of New York architects Crow, Lewis & Wickenhoefer, designed the Italian Renaissance-style estate for prominent German businessman, Louis H. Runge and his wife, Anita, according to the Galveston Island Tourist Information Center. From 1922 to 1968, Elisabeth worked at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) where she managed the medical library, according to the Galveston Island Tourist Information Center. HOUSTON The Houston Association of Realtors released some data Wednesday showing that the local housing market for June beat 2019 sales. Over 1,200 more homes were sold in June 2020 than in June 2019, according to HAR. Most of the homes sold were in the $250,000 to $500,000 range, but homes listed in the $500,000 to $750,000 jumped 18.6%, according to HAR. Coronavirus has driven the Houston housing market into uncharted territory. Due to the shrunken inventory and the new rise in coronavirus cases, HAR is anticipating another dip in the local housing market come fall.
