WILD WEEKEND: VYPEโs Class 6A updated Top 25 after exciting Week 1
The non-district season is a warm-up (no pun intended) for the games that count, but it sure seemed liked last weekendโs slate was meaningful for those on the fields of play. North Shore first-year head coach Willie Gaston earned his first win in a, 38-17, win over then-No. 3 The Woodlands. The Mustangsโ defense ruled the day, while QB Kaleb Bailey knocked off the rust after an ACL injury a year ago.

Game 1 of the 2022 season for the Vipers and Game 15 ended the same way.....well almost. In Week 1 of the season the Vipers lost to Dripping Springs on a field goal as time expired. In Week 15, and with a ticket to state on the line, it was the Vipers turn to play the hero as Hayden Arnold for the Vipers kicked a 37-yard field goal as time expired to defeat the Katy Tigers 38-35 to send the Vipers to their first ever state championship.
