Neuhaus led the Crusaders on the hardwood earning a first-team, all-district nod as a junior. She is following in the footsteps of her older sister Jane Neuhaus, who was a star for the Crusaders and now plays at Concordia University-Nebraska.

After a thrilling Spring season and an even more entertaining series of events at the South Regionals, it’s all come down to this. The TAPPS State Meet will be taking place this Friday and Saturday at Midway ISD’s Panther Stadium. Fortunately for local fan bases, the Houston area will be well-represented across the board.

“I’ve been training hard for this season,” said McGown. “I drive up to College Station three times a week for pole vault practice at my club team (Mac Vault) as well as lifting weights and mentally preparing before each meet. I hope to leave a legacy here at Fulshear.”

The Signorelli family is in the pole-vaulting business… and business is good. Nico and Milla Signorelli have had impressive seasons in 2023 and look to battle for the SPC Championship. Father, Danny – who pole vaulted at Texas A&M – has coached them along the way.

WITH THE UIL TRACK AND FIELD SEASON IN FULL SWING, LEE HIGH WILL LOOK TO ITS STARS TO SET THE TONE ON THE OVAL. Particularly, junior Heaven Perkins, who is expected to be one of the major headliners for the Ganders this Spring. After advancing to the Regional Meet in 2022, Perkins intends to usher Lee back into UIL contention.

TREND-SETTERS: FBCA breaks more records at Texas Relays
FBCA continues to resemble last year’s State Title form as they progress through this Spring. Furthermore, another common trend for the Eagles is their habitual tendency to break their own records. The performance showcased at this past weekend’s Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays was no different.
UNDER THE LIGHTS: LSA’s Klein a State pole vault favorite
The most notable cause for celebration for the Pioneers during the annual LSA Night Under the Lights meet at Glassel Stadium was when junior Wilson Klein burst onto the scene in the Pole Vault event, earning gold (15’ 1’’) while setting a new school record in the process.
RECORD BREAKERS: FBCA Girls Track set new standards
It is almost becoming redundant at this point, but it seems that the rich keep getting richer at Fort Bend Christian Academy Track & Field.The Eagles made it clear that they wanted their performance at the Stafford Spartan Relays earlier this month to be memorable. Suffice it to say, they did not disappoint.

John Cooper's Oguchi opens senior season with a monster throw
Amarachukwu Oguchi has started her senior season off with a bang. Looking back to 2020, the best discus throw by Oguchi came also in the first meet at the Woodlands Christian Invitational with a toss of 122-feet-7-inches. Due to the shortened season, John Cooper School only competed in four meets and there were no SPC Championships. In the summer, Oguchi competed in 10 different events for discus and her distances just kept getting better and better. On July 24 in the PPA Virtual Meet #12 she hit 135-2.5, on July 31 in the USATF Youth Virtual Summer Challenge she hit 140-6.5 and then 142-11 on September 4.

Shearer repeats as TAPPS State Champion, TWCA Boys win 5A team crown, Girls take 3rd
On Monday, The Woodlands Christian Academy boys team captured its fourth-straight TAPPS Cross Country Team State Championship with 70 points and three runners finishing inside the Top 10. The group was led by Ben Shearer, who won his second-straight individual TAPPS State Championship, posting a time of 15:32. "Coming from a very uncertain time in track last year to cross country this year was a little shaky. Just coming into this final meet for me in cross country, it's nice to cap it off." Ben Shearer is the top finisher at the TAPPS 5A Boys Cross Country Meet!

Running is Family Tradition for Shearer
FOR BEN SHEARER, RUNNING IS A FAMILY TRADITION. He won the Class 4A TAPPS individual title in October by over a minute to lead his team to its third- straight state title. His sister Hannah won two state titles for the Warriors back in 2014 and 2016. While Shearer is uber-talented, he knows what is the cornerstone of being a cross- country star. Shearer finished fifth at the Nike Cross-National South Regional Meet, before winning the 2020 Carl Lewis High School Indoor Invitational in the one-mile race.

When you look at a team that finished 16th overall at state last year but brings back everyone, that excites you. Other To Watch: HuffmanThe Huffman boys finished 15th overall at the UIL State Cross Country meet last year. The Spartans finished 12th overall at state last year but do lose top runner Erick Lara, who took 41st overall.
