HOUSTON The Astros are ready to move forward and allow players to have limited access to Minute Maid Park and the West Palm Beach facility starting Monday, a team official announced Sunday. The Astros General Manager James Click confirmed the decision in an email to KPRC Sports Director Randy McIlroy. Strict rules will be in place for those that choose to workout individually. Its not unlike how a lot of businesses are reopening with minimal capacity and social distancing. Anyone entering the facility will be screened for symptoms and personal protective equipment is required unless involved in strenuous activity.

But the big issue is that owners are reportedly seeking a 50-50 revenue-sharing plan, which ties player compensation to league profits. The MLB isn't expecting the players union to accept any recommendation immediately. Multiple people familiar with the discussion said the league gave a presentation to the Major League Baseball Players Association, or MLBPA, on Tuesday. The parties did briefly discuss economics of resuming operations, but the MLB did not submit a formal proposal that's been in the works. The last time MLB owners attempted to install a revenue-sharing system or a salary cap it led to the 1994 strike, which lasted more than seven months.

The 2020 WWE Royal Rumble came to Houston this weekend, marking the end of a weekend full of matches from Smackdown and NXT. NEW YORK - Carlos Beltrn, two years removed from his playing career and with no managerial experience, has been picked by the New York Mets to replace Mickey Callaway. A nine-time All-Star during 20 major league seasons, Beltrn played for the Mets from 2005-11. He interviewed to become New York Yankees manager after the 2017 season, when Aaron Boone was hired, and spent this season as an adviser to Yankees general manager Brian Cashman. The 42-year-old Beltrn becomes the first minority to fill one of the eight major league manager vacancies this offseason.
