It’s stressful. There is added pressure and the atmosphere amongst the fan base is unlike any other.

The Astros are once again in a game 7 as they face the Rangers tonight with a trip to the World Series on the line.  It’s the 6th time in franchise history the Astros are in a game 7.

The first was in the 2004 NLCS facing the St. Louis Cardinals. The Astros held a 3-2 lead but dropped the last two in St. Louis to end their World Series hopes.

In 2017, the Astros experienced two “Game 7′s” .  First, in the ALCS against the Yankees the Astros were down 3-2 and tied the series before taking down the Bronx Bombers in game 7 of that series.  Lance McCullers Jr. was one of the stars as he came out of the bullpen to pitch the final four innings to lock up the pennant.

Then days later in the World Series the Astros and Dodgers were in a game 7. At Dodger Stadium Houston closed out the Dodgers 5-1.  They scored early and never looked back securing the Astros first every World Series Championship.

Two years later, the Astros were again in a game 7 meeting the Nationals in the World Series at Minute Maid Park.  It was a tough series loss because the Astros became the first MLB team to ever lose all of their home games in a World Series.

The Astros most recent game 7 was in the 2020 ALCS against Tampa Bay.  It occurred in the Covid-season that was played in a bubble.  The Astros and Rays met in San Diego with the Rays prevailing and advancing to the World Series.
