Gunshot victim hospitalized after police flagged down near Minute Maid Park

Another shooting victim shows up at hospital in likely related incident

HOUSTON – A person was found shot near Minute Maid Park in downtown Houston and another shooting victim showed up at a hospital in what police believe is likely a related incident.

Houston police said they were flagged down for the victim at 1599 Capitol Street in downtown at 6:22 p.m. The location is a block away from Minute Maid Park.

Officers performed a traffic stop on a maroon BMW at the location because they said the vehicle ran a red light.

During the stop, a man got out of the car and said he found a man that had been shot multiple times and was taking him to the hospital. Officers performed life-saving measures before the man was transported to the hospital. Officials say they also found a weapon.

Police ended up detaining the driver because they say they learned he may have fired shots where he picked the injured man up around 6 p.m. near an abandoned building.

A second scene was located at 2002 Rothwell near an abandoned warehouse about five minutes from where the traffic stop happened.

Police say another man who was over there showed up to the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds claiming to have been robbed. He is in stable condition. Police believe the two shootings are likely connected.
