HOUSTON – Astros right-handed starting pitcher Cristian Javier will undergo Tommy John surgery, a league source confirmed to KPRC 2 Sports. Javier will undergo the surgery Thursday.
Javier had been spending the past few days weighing his options, and had been leaning toward the surgery options, league sources say. Javier has been out since May 27 with forearm discomfort. The pitcher also missed time due to neck stiffness earlier this season.
