An investigation is underway after a woman was fatally struck by a Houston Police Department patrol vehicle on the Southwest Freeway feeder road Tuesday, officers said.

Police said, around 8:52 p.m. on March 20, Mohamad Altabari was walking northbound in the 6800 block of Southwest Freeway when he was struck by a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene and the victim died from his injuries.

A fuel truck rollover has shut down all of the lanes on Southwest Freeway going southbound near Bissonnet Thursday morning, TranStar says. Officials said the lanes are expected to reopen at least by Thursday afternoon.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- If you're planning to hit the road to visit friends and family this Thanksgiving, we want to help you enjoy more turkey time and less travel time.AAA, along with data from Inrix, has identified the worst times to hit the freeways and which freeways will see the most congestion.According to AAA , generally speaking, the worst time to be driving anywhere is Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.The number one worst spot is expected to be the Southwest Freeway outbound between downtown and 610, around 5:45 PM. AAA expects more than four times the usual traffic during that time.The number two spot is the 610 West Loop southbound between TC Jester and South Post Oak at 5:30 p.m. That area will also see more than four times the normal traffic.For number three, it's back over to the Southwest Freeway northbound between Weslayan and downtown. That area will see nearly three times the usual congestion at 5:30 p.m.Number four is along the 610 West Loop northbound near the Galleria.The North Beltway eastbound near Bush Intercontinental Airport is number five.The six worst spot is the North Freeway inbound between the Beltway and downtown.Finally, number seven is I-10 the Katy Freeway outbound from Antoine to the Grand Parkway.Peak traffic for those locations range between 2:45 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

3 people killed after SUV crashes into pickup off Southwest Freeway
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Three people are dead after an SUV crashed into a pickup off the Southwest Freeway early Sunday morning.Police say a black SUV was speeding down the Southwest Freeway feeder road at around 1 a.m. at the same time a pickup was turning out of the intersection at Bellerive Drive. "(The) black SUV struck the other vehicle and rolled several times, ejecting two of the occupants," said HPD Commander James Bryant. "There were three occupants in the SUV. "The driver of the SUV was killed instantly.The two passengers ejected were taken to a hospital. Police say one of them died on the way and the third died at the hospitalPolice say the driver of the pickup wasn't hurt and say alcohol did not appear to be a factor in their case.No charges have been filed at this time and the investigation remains ongoing.

Driver arrested in Midtown after leading police on rush hour chase
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- One man is in police custody after leading police on a brief chase.The suspect was driving a red pickup inbound on the Southwest Freeway. After he took the Spur towards downtown, the man waved a white rag out the driver's side window, gave up and turned himself in to officers.The truck briefly continued to roll but no one was injured.Sugar Land police started the pursuit over some allegedly stolen lawn equipment. There's no word what charges the driver may face.

HOUSTON - Arson investigators are looking into a fire Monday that damaged two excavators at a construction site along the Southwest Freeway. The fire was reported about 4:50 a.m. under an overpass near the Chimney Rock Road exit along U.S. Highway 59. Houston Transtar cameras showed flames shooting from at least one of the pieces of construction equipment. The cost of the damage was not immediately clear.
