Petland Webster said the burglary occurred at 19722 Gulf Freeway overnight, the company confirmed. The pet store said the dogs stolen were Rusty, an English Bulldog; Dulce, a Boston Terrier; and Milo, a French Bulldog. “At Petland Webster, we are truly shocked and saddened by the news today that three of our beloved pups were taken from us,” Petland Webster said in an official statement. Man fatally struck by car after being chased into the street in downtown Houston, police say
HOUSTON – The search continues for a man who chased another man that ended up being fatally struck by a vehicle Sunday, police said. Officers said it happened along Jefferson Street at the Gulf Freeway in east downtown Houston around 3:30 p.m. Witnesses told police the man who chased the victim took a bag from him after the deadly collision and ran away. Houston police sergeant killed in shootout remembered as dedicated public servant, family man
HOUSTON – A veteran Houston police sergeant who was fatally shot last week while trying to intervene during a shootout was remembered Wednesday as a leader who dedicated his life to his family and community. Family and friends attended a funeral service for Sean Rios, 47, at a Houston church. Police Chief Art Acevedo has said investigators believe Rios saw the shootout and was killed trying to intervene when he was shot. During the funeral service, Acevedo said Rios’ decision to try to stop the shootout was an example of his dedication to helping others. Rios was the second Houston officer to be killed in the past four weeks and the fourth since last December.
Motorcyclist killed after reportedly racing vehicle on Gulf Freeway, officials say
HOUSTON – A motorcyclist that may have been racing on the Gulf Freeway was killed on Sunday afternoon, officials said. Authorities said the man crashed and fell off of an interchange. The crash happened on the northbound ramp of the Gulf Freeway that connects to Interstate 610 East. The rider may have been racing a silver Chrysler 300 when he crashed and fell onto the feeder below, officials said. Officials said the crash is not considered a hit-and-run since there was never any contact between the motorcycle and the other car.
1 killed in shooting outside southeast Houston restaurant
HOUSTON – One person was killed Friday after an argument turned into a shooting in the parking lot of a restaurant in southeast Houston. The shooting was reported just after 2 a.m. near the intersection of Gulf Freeway and Fuqua Street. Investigators said it all started inside the Michoacan restaurant after a man said another man inappropriately touched his wife. Investigators said that the couple left, but the man followed them outside and started punching the husband. According to investigators, the husband’s 21-year-old son saw what was happening and shot the man who was attacking his father.
Woman, 8-year-old autistic son shot in suspected road rage incident near Gulf Freeway
HOUSTON A mother and her 8-year-old autistic son were injured after shots were fired into the familys car in a suspected road rage incident Sunday evening, police said. The shooting happened off North Featherwood Drive and Fuqua near the Gulf Freeway Sunday evening. Several bullets went through the vehicle, hitting Bustos in the shoulder and 8-year-old Dominic in the collarbone and hand. He said he was put in handcuffs and into the back of the squad car after Hilary and Dominic went into the ambulance. HPD: 1 person killed, 3 others injured in multi-vehicle crash on Gulf Freeway
HOUSTON, Texas One person was killed and three others were injured in a fatal, three-vehicle crash that occurred on the Gulf Freeway overnight in Houston, according to the Houston Police Department. Around midnight, the Houston Police Department received reports of a multi-vehicle crash on the Gulf Freeway, near Howard Drive. Houston Police said a black pickup truck slammed into the back of a white sedan, crushing it. The driver in the white sedan was the individual declared dead at the scene. The details surrounding the fatal crash remain unclear and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Officials: Man shot by ex’s boyfriend, causes crash that closed Gulf Freeway
HOUSTON – The Gulf Freeway’s main lanes are back open as Houston police investigate an overnight crash and shooting. Police said the situation started when an ex-boyfriend went to his ex-girlfriend’s home at the Life at Clearwood apartment complex. “Basically, as far as we know, he stated he had a weapon on him, he forced entry into the home where he was shot,” said Houston Police Detective C. Grahmann. Grahmann said the woman’s children were home and her current boyfriend shot the ex-boyfriend. Police said the ex-boyfriend got into a truck and crashed into a railing, then came to rest against a light post at around 11:32 p.m. on the Gulf Freeway.
15-year-old girl, 4 firefighters injured after BMW slams into fire truck: Authorities
Four Houston firefighters and a 15-year-old girl are recovering in the hospital after a crash in southeast Houston. Police said the crash happened on the Gulf Freeway near College Avenue at around 9:30 p.m. Sunday night. Investigators said a fire truck was blocking part of the road because of another accident when a BMW slammed into it. The firefighters are expected to be okay, authorities said. Police said a 15-year-old girl in the passenger seat of the BMW was seriously hurt but she is expected to survive.
HPD: SWAT standoff involving 5 children over
HOUSTON – 5 children barricaded inside a home in Houston are safe following a SWAT standoff Friday, according to the Houston Police Department. Around 4:20 p.m., the children’s mother barricaded herself and the children inside a residence at 8100 Milredge, near the Gulf Freeway, according to Houston Police. The situation stemmed from a child care dispute between the woman and her ex-boyfriend, who is the father to four of the five children, officials said. The standoff was over about an hour later when the woman came out of the residence peacefully, officials said. No one was injured in the incident and charges are pending.
Lanes reopen after accident causes major gridlock for commuters on Gulf Freeway, authorities say
WEBSTER, Texas – Traffic on the Gulf Freeway is at a standstill due to an accident in the area. The accident happened around 6 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the Gulf Freeway at Bay Area Boulevard, according to the Webster Police Department. Authorities confirmed a person was hit by a vehicle, but they did not say what caused the accident. The Houston Police Department initially said that a person was killed in the accident. Victim’s friend recalls moments that led up to Texas City double murder
HOUSTON – Police are investigating after a man and a woman were killed in a shooting at a mobile home in Texas City, officials said. The shooting happened at around 8:30 p.m. at the Green Villa Mobile Home Community in the 12000 block of FM 3436, Texas City Police Department Corporal Allen Bjerke said. Police: Man walking on Houston freeway dies after officers try to detain him
HOUSTON – A man who was walking on a Houston freeway died Tuesday after officers tried to detain him, police said. The incident was reported about 10:20 a.m. on the southbound exit ramp of the Interstate 45 Gulf Freeway near Beltway 8. Houston Police said they received multiple 9-1-1 calls about a man walking in and out of the busy freeway lanes. Two additional officers showed up, and HPD said it took all three to subdue the man and get him in handcuffs. Cell phone video appears to show two officers on top of the man at one point.

HOUSTON – A person has died in a crash on the I-45 Gulf Freeway at Edgebrook, according to Houston police. The northbound lanes are now open following the investigation. However, traffic is backed up, but slowly returning to posted speeds. Houston police say the crash happened at Almeda Genoa when a commercial vehicle struck another vehicle. The commercial vehicle driver died at the scene.
HPD officer skids off road, crashes into grass on Gulf Freeway feeder
HOUSTON – Police believed weather played a factor in an officer-involved crash on the Gulf Freeway feeder road. Police say Saturday around midnight, a female officer was responding to a call when the car in front of her changed lanes on Tallyho Road. According to investigators, that car swerved to avoid another car, which caused the officer to lose control, skid on the wet road, and crash into the grass. No one was hurt.
