A man was killed in an officer-involved shooting by a Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office sergeant during an altercation Sunday at a private event, according to the sheriff’s office.

What a crazy year 2020 was for Texas High School Volleyball. Needville was unbelievable in Class 4A, while Fulshear reached the state title match in Class 5A. In Class 6A, it was wild as two Houston-area schools reached the state title match with Seven Lakes winning their first-ever title. With the season in the books, it's time to name the All-VYPE team and hand out the postseason accolades. At Needville High School, It was like Christmas Day for Needville head football coach Mike Giles. Needville, like several area schools, are trying to get ready for a season in the midst of a pandemic. "We thought we weren't gonna have our senior season. For now, the Fighting Blue Jays are preparing for a full seaosn, but know they have to be flexible. “We are going to continue to work towards our goals this season,” Giles said.

The couple spent a week in the hospital together after Gloria said they unknowingly contracted the virus. I mean we don’t go anywhere but the only thing I can think of is we got it with a package maybe food for the animals,” Gloria said. When she got home from the hospital Tuesday night, Gloria found their barn toppled over. Jack and Gloria run a no-kill animal shelter in Needville, supporting almost 200 animals including horses, ducks, hogs, cats, goats, chickens and roosters. They are hoping volunteers can come in and help rebuild the barn soon.

NEEDVILLE, Texas – The funeral for a Fort Bend County deputy constable who was killed by friendly fire last week has been scheduled for Thursday. Officials said Fort Bend County Precinct 4 Deputy Constable Caleb Rule was shot in the chest Friday by a Fort Bend County sheriff’s deputy after the deputy mistook Rule for an intruder while they were searching a home. According to a tweet posted Tuesday morning, Rule’s funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Carmel Church at 2405 Richmond Street in Needville. The funeral is only open to family and law enforcement. A public visitation for Rule will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Carmel Church.

When Jack Pytel of Needville went fishing with his friends at a ranch at a runoff from the Brazos River, little did he know that he would bring home more than just catfish. Pytel, 17, and his friends caught in Fort Bend County a 7 foot, 7 inch alligator gar, weighing 190 pounds with a rod and reel. Using chicken liver as his bait, he knew from the start that he was catching something bigger. “I called out my buddies to help out by catching the gar,” he said, “I didn’t realize what it was until after a half-hour later it jumped out of the water.”Jack Pytel with his alligator gar. HOUSTON – Three people are dead after they were involved in separate traffic incidents across the greater Houston area. Deputies said the person came out of the woods in the area and tried to cross 1960 when he was hit by the first vehicle. Shortly after being hit by the first vehicle, the person was hit by at least one other vehicle. NEEDVILLE, Texas - A man was killed in a crash Friday after running a stop sign in Fort Bend County, according to deputies. The crash was reported about 9 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Padon and Needville-Fairchilds roads. Fort Bend County deputies said the driver of a car was traveling south on Padon Road when he ran the stop sign and crashed into a pickup heading west on Needville-Fairchilds Road. The driver of the car was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene, deputies said. It's not yet clear why the driver of the car ran the stop sign.

NEEDVILLE, Texas (KTRK) -- Deputies are investigating a rollover crash involving an ambulance and a vehicle in Fort Bend County.Both the ambulance and vehicle were seen from SkyEye flipped over on the side of the road off Zamanek Road at FM 1994.Deputies said it happened just after 4 a.m. Three people, two paramedics and a patient, were in the ambulance. They were taken to the hospital and suffered minor injuries.One person in the vehicle was trapped. The fire department had to extricate him. He was taken to the hospital by a helicopter and is stable.Crews shut down FM 1994 eastbound, and the westbound lane was being diverted to Brumbelow during the investigation.DPS investigators are trying to figure out what caused the crash.
