Owner of Needville newspaper arrested, accused of sending explicit messages to undercover officer

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – The Harris County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office said the owner of a newspaper in Needville has been arrested after he allegedly send explicit messages and images to an undercover officer.

Sam “Gary” Martin, 63, is charged with online solicitation of a minor.

The constable’s office said Martin is the owner of the Needville Hometown Journal newspaper.

Investigators say Martin sent explicit messages and images to an undercover officer. The messages also included plans to meet to engage in sexual activity.

The constable’s office says a warrant for Martin’s arrest was issued Sunday and he was taken into custody.

A separate search warrant was also obtained and executed in Fort Bend County authorizing a search of Martin’s home for the purpose of locating child sexual assault material.
