HOUSTON โ Both directions of Interstate 10 are back open Thursday in Schulenburg after a chase that started in Houston resulted in a standoff and a man committing suicide, according to authorities. Officials said the chase started after a person in the vehicle fired shots at a deputy from the Harris County Precinct 5 Constableโs Office around 3 a.m. Thursday. The chase passed through Houston and Colorado County where authorities said they used spike strips to damage the tires. Authorities said the driver continued to drive on rims until finally coming to a stop Schulenburg, where he refused to get out. Deputies said the driver continued to flash a handgun and law enforcement shut down I-10 in the area while they worked to resolve the situation.
18-wheeler hauling bees rolls over at San Antonioโs notorious โFinesilver Curveโ
Officials are cleaning up a crash scene after an 18-wheeler that appears to have been carrying boxes of bees rolled over at the Finesilver Curve near downtown. (Courtesy of KSAT)HOUSTON โ An 18-wheeler hauling bees flipped over Sunday morning on San Antonioโs notorious โFinesilver Curve,โ according to KSAT. Police said swarms of bees have spread through the downtown area. Officials said the rollover occurred just before 11 a.m. on the Interstate 10 West offramp to Eastbound I-35. Another truck, which was hauling the bee boxes, was also involved in the incident but did not flip over, according to San Antonio police.
Boil water order issued for part of Baytown

Officials said the order is for residents and businesses located along the Interstate 10 corridor from Spur 330 to Garth Road. Water provided by the City of Baytown Public Water System should be boiled for two minutes and cooled before it is used for drinking or other consumption, officials said. Repairs to the broken water main are underway, officials said.

โNot safe yetโ to remove bodies in Houston building after stairwell collapse, officials say
HOUSTON โ Members of the Houston Fire Departmentโs elite rescue team said Monday night it was not safe yet to remove the bodies of three construction workers who were killed when 13 floors of concrete staircases collapsed. After the team rescued a construction worker from the collapse earlier in the day, team members stood by as engineers checked the stability of the perimeter of the collapsed stairwell. A few team members will stand by overnight into Tuesday as construction workers cut holes in the roof of the 15-story future Houston headquarters for Marathon Oil, an HFD captain said. The plan, the captain explained, is to use a crane to remove large portions of the collapsed stairwell through holes in the roof, starting Tuesday. It is unclear when it will be safe to remove the three bodies from the rubble.
California wildfire traps campers in national forest

Three fast-spreading California wildfires sent people fleeing Saturday, with one trapping campers at a reservoir in the Sierra National Forest, as a brutal heat wave pushed temperatures into triple digits in many parts of state. The wildfire burning near Shaver Lake exploded to 56 square miles (145 square kilometers), jumped a river and compromised the only road into the Mammoth Pool Campground, national forest spokesman Dan Tune said. The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire) said the fire scorched at least 1.5 square miles (3.9 square kilometers) and was burning at a moderate to dangerous rate of spread. A small community south of Alpine in the Cleveland National Forest was ordered to evacuate. The blazes have burned more than 1.5 million acres (2,343 square miles).
Residents protest I-45 expansion, citing displaced residents, air quality as top concerns

Deputy constable injured in crash on Katy Freeway
HOUSTON A deputy constable from Harris County Precinct 5 was injured Wednesday in a crash on the Katy Freeway. The crash was reported about 3:30 a.m. on the westbound side of Interstate 10 at North Post Oak Road. Authorities said the deputy was in a cruiser when the vehicle was hit from behind by another vehicle. The deputy suffered a back injury and was hospitalized. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Person hit, killed by vehicle while trying to run across I-10 East Freeway
HOUSTON โ A person was hit and killed by a vehicle Friday while trying to run across Interstate 10 in east Houston, police said. The crash was reported about 3:45 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of the East Freeway at Federal Road. According to Houston police, the driver of the vehicle that hit the pedestrian stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. The driver and the driverโs passenger were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Several lanes of the freeway were blocked while investigators were at the scene.

Crash briefly closed section of eastbound I-10 in Brookshire
BROOKSHIRE, Texas โ A crash on Tuesday briefly closed a section of Interstate 10 in Brookshire. The two-vehicle crash was reported at 1:36 p.m. on the eastbound side of the freeway at FM 359. By 2:30 p.m. the roads were reopened after the crash was cleared. Video from a Houston Transtar camera in the area showed traffic at a standstill in the area. The nature of the crash was not immediately clear.
