John Cooper School wins gold at SPC spring championships
The John Cooper School boysโ tennis team won the Southwest Preparatory Conference title this weekend along with their brother-sister pole vaulting combo. The Dragons dominated in tennis, beating Greenhill in the opening match, then Kinkaid in the semis. JCS blanked St. Mark's 5-0 in the finals to take the title.
5 Big Things: Why John Cooper wins their first Football Championship
The John Cooper School is in its eleventh year of playing football and the sixth at the varsity level. They will be playing in their third SPC (Southwest Preparatory Conference) Championship - after playing in it in 2018 and 2019 - today in Dallas.

The John Cooper School's Athletics Department held a final signing ceremony for the Class of 2021 on Friday, April 30, in the Dunlap Gymnasium, to recognize three senior athletes who will be competing at the college level in the fall of 2021.

John Cooper's Oguchi opens senior season with a monster throw
Amarachukwu Oguchi has started her senior season off with a bang. Looking back to 2020, the best discus throw by Oguchi came also in the first meet at the Woodlands Christian Invitational with a toss of 122-feet-7-inches. Due to the shortened season, John Cooper School only competed in four meets and there were no SPC Championships. In the summer, Oguchi competed in 10 different events for discus and her distances just kept getting better and better. On July 24 in the PPA Virtual Meet #12 she hit 135-2.5, on July 31 in the USATF Youth Virtual Summer Challenge she hit 140-6.5 and then 142-11 on September 4.
VYPE Campus In-Depth: John Cooper School's BJ Feuerhelm
HOUSTON - The John Cooper School just had a season for the books. The women's basketball team went an impressive 15-2 overall and 7-1 in Southwest Preparatory Conference play, which was good enough to claim the 2020 SPC South Zone Championship. The Dragons were led by seniors Aalyssa Rogers (13.3 ppg/ 9.1 apg), Ajailah Ogiemwonyi (17.4 ppg/9.9 rpg) and sophomore Jorynn Ross (16.2 ppg/14.1 rpg). The season was historic and VYPE Media's Joshua Koch was joined by coach BJ Feurerhelm to talk in-depth about the season that will not be soon forgotten.
VYPE Campus Athlete Spotlight: John Cooper School's Jorynn Ross
"The game for me was great," Ross, who listens to "Female Goat" by Lakeyah ft. City Girls before every game said. AdHeading into this week, which John Cooper School entered at 12-1 overall and 4-0 in SPC play, Ross was averaging an impressive 16 points and 14 rebounds per game. With the win, John Cooper School has still only suffered one defeat all year, which is something they have learned from. John Cooper School coach BJ Feuerhelm added: "It is no surprise to see the success Jorynn is having this year. AdOutside of basketball, Ross enjoys painting, crafting, reading, and self-care, such as hair, skin, and meditation.

THE 411: John Cooper's dual-sport star having breakout season
John Cooper School's dual-sport star Jaxson Pierce has had a breakout season so far toting the rock for the Dragons, who are undefeated. PIERCE: Baseball helps me in football with hand-eye coordination. I say this because I am a catcher and I am always catching pitchers which really helps with my abilities to catch balls in football. Football also helps me with baseball because since I'm catching, I have to block balls all the time. Football helps me get used to the feeling of being hit.
