A woman and man were arrested in The Woodlands after authorities found multiple malnourished and injured dogs โ some worth thousands of dollars โ in the back of a stolen U-Haul truck on Aug. 30, the Montgomery County Sheriffโs Office said Wednesday.
Southeast Texas LINK Coalition addresses overlap between domestic violence, animal cruelty
HOUSTON โ In response to the rise in domestic and animal violence cases, local agencies are partnering to form the Southeast Texas Link Coalition to combat the abuse. The Southeast Texas LINK Coalition aims to bring together agencies from across Southeast Texas to build a cohesive network that combats both animal violence and human violence. โBy launching the southeast Texas Link coalition we hope to prevent, combat, and educate the public on the link between domestic violence and animal cruelty,โ said Dr. Malone. A representative of the coalition said since the COVID-19 pandemic began, there has been an increase in domestic violence cases. Animal abuse cases are expected to go up as well.
Animal abandonment cases in Houston see 20% increase due to coronavirus pandemic, HSPCA says
HOUSTON The coronavirus pandemic has caused a huge shift in many peoples circumstances, which has led to a dramatic increase in animal abandonment cases, according to the Houston SPCA. Since mid-March, the HSPCA and multiple law enforcement agencies have investigated 187 abandonment cases 90 of which are still active and, according to Adam Reynolds, Chief of Animal Cruelty at the Houston SPCA, that is about a 20% increase. Just in the past 30 days, 11 animals that were found in deplorable conditions have been rescued, according to the HSPCA. According to the HSPCA, eight dead animals were also found inside the home. Woman charged with animal cruelty after sheriffs deputies find 3 dead dogs
CHICAGO, IL Three dead dogs were found in a Kane County home, but neighbors werent surprised. In addition to multiple animal complaints filed with the sheriff, CBS 2 found reports made to Kane County Animal Control, with details that are eerily similar to Chesterfields felony case. In 2011, a caller noted that there are 20+ dogs in the house and dead dogs in the house.CBS 2 asked Animal Control for the follow-up paperwork to that incident, but was told there isnt any. Animal Control did act in 2019, forcing the homeowner to surrender all her dogs. The doors at Animal Control were locked because of COVID-19.
