HOUSTON โ A Houston police officer struck a suspected intoxicated driver late Friday night after the civilian disregarded a stop sign, according to the Harris County District Attorneyโs Office Vehicular Crimes Division. The officer was driving eastbound down Fuqua Street at approximately 11 p.m. when a civilian driver traveling northbound on a nearby cross street disregarded a stop sign and drove out in front of the marked patrol vehicle. Video of the incident showed that the driver โblew through the stop sign,โ said Sean Teare, Chief of the Harris County District Attorneyโs Vehicular Crimes Division. โHe didnโt stop,โ said Teare. โNot only did he disregard the traffic stop sign, he didnโt even know what kind of device was there.

HOUSTON โ A 19-year-old Adrienne Exum was killed in a suspected DUI crash in north Houston, according to Harris County Sheriffโs Office. The crash occurred after Sunday afternoon at 191 West Road at North Freeway. Fuerte-Padilla was charged with failure to stop and render aid & driving while under the influence, according to officials. Sam Guar, who knew the victim Exum, and several family members watched sheriffโs deputies clean up the fatal crash on West Road at the North Freeway. As she turned onto West Road, deputies say a Dodge Truck struck her from the side.

Woman claims she blacked out prior to hitting, killing 70-year-old woman with vehicle, police say
HOUSTON โ Police said a woman driving with a 2-year-old in her car Monday morning in west Houston claims she blacked out before hitting a 70-year-old woman. Authorities said the 70-year-old was walking with a friend when it happened around 7 a.m. Investigators said the 70-year-old woman and had run left to try and avoid the vehicle when the vehicle swerved her way and hit her. The 70-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the hospital. Neighbors identified the woman who died as Carol Ansel, a beloved, retired elementary school teacher from Rummel Elementary who was taking a routine morning walk. Holder said Ansel and her friend would take their routine walk almost every morning, around the same time.
Rape investigation leads to more charges as men impersonate as police officers to intimidate victim
HOUSTON โ A Houston man was charged with tying up and raping his long-term girlfriend. Now, Winrock Hill is accused of convincing two of his friends, one of them a relative of his, to portray themselves as police officers and to try and trick his victim into dropping all charges against him. Now, months later, investigators allege that Hill convinced two other men to pose as police officers to his victimโs house and try to frighten her into dropping all charges. More charges are expected to be filed against Hill in the coming days. The other man in this crime is expected to be charged and arrested in the days to come.
Innocent man dies after racing driver crashes into his truck, deputies say
HOUSTON โ An innocent man is dead after deputies said a car racing another one going nearly 100 miles per hour crashed into him Thursday. Deputies said the incident happened on Cutten Road near Cypress Creek Parkway in northwest Harris County around 6:45 p.m. Investigators say they have a good lead on the second suspect. โWe got yet another death on our road,โ Sean Teare with the Harris County District Attorneyโs Office said. HPD: Passenger dead, driver injured after car flies off overpass, crashes into tree below
HOUSTON, Texas A passenger was killed and a driver critically injured in Houston Saturday morning after their vehicle flew off a highway overpass, Houston Police said. The crash occurred around 2:30 a.m. Saturday in the 1900 block of Pierce Street, near downtown Houston. The driver was transported to Memorial Hermann at the Texas Medical Center in critical condition. Hospital staff alerted authorities that the driver was intoxicated at the time of the crash, police said. At least one of those drivers is suspected of driving while intoxicated, police said.
Prosecutor: Bottle of liquor found in pocket of man charged in wreck that killed Houston healthcare worker
HOUSTON โ The man accused of causing a fatal wreck on the Katy Freeway service road over the weekend faced a judge for the first time on Monday. Police said Amy Shypailo, 29, was killed Sunday when Freeman ran a red light and broadsided her car at the intersection of the Katy Freeway service road and Gessner. Teare said Shypailo was on her way to Memorial-Hermann Hospital in Memorial City, where she worked as a speech pathologist. Teare said Freeman told officers he had a fight with his girlfriend and was just driving around. She was an undergraduate Texas Longhorn before completing her graduate degree in Speech Pathology at the University of Houston.
Man suspected of drunk driving kills woman in crash on Katy Freeway
HOUSTON โ Investigators believe a man was intoxicated at the time of a deadly crash on the Katy Freeway frontage road at Gessner Road on Sunday morning. โThis defendant was just incredibly selfish and a woman is dead because of it,โ Teare said. The woman was traveling southbound on Gessner Road at the time. We are in the process right now of obtaining a search warrant and getting that blood,โ Teare said. Teare said the man is 33-years-old and facing a charge of intoxication manslaughter.
HCSO: Woman feeding stray dogs killed after being hit by car in northeast Houston
HOUSTON A woman was fatally struck by a car moments after feeding stray dogs Saturday evening in northeast Houston, according to the Harris County Sheriffs Office. The car carried the woman a few hundred feet before it crashed into a tree and threw the woman further. An emptied bag of dog food was found at the crash scene and deputies found what appears to be a dog leash lodged in the grill of the car, according to the Harris County Sheriffs Office. Witnesses told investigators the woman came to the location every day to feed stray dogs. They also reported that the car was traveling at speeds of over 100 mph just before the crash.

A bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash Saturday morning, according to the Houston Police Department. Around 5:35 a.m., Houston police received a report of a hit-and-run crash involving a bicyclist on the West Loop 610 service road at the Braeswood Boulevard exit in the Meyerland area. He was just a short distance ahead of the group when he was hit by a vehicle driving southbound on the service road. Prosecutors: Pimp charged with murder after woman he brought from Las Vegas hit, killed on 610
Finks said she was too drunk and was hit while trying to cross the highway, Teare said. Teare said investigators determined that the victim and several other women were brought to Houston by Finks after the coronavirus pandemic prompted the closure of casinos in Las Vegas. Teare said the video showed the woman dropped everything and ran toward I-610 with Finks in pursuit. Teare said the woman nearly made it across I-610 before she was hit. Teare said authorities want to help any of the other women Finks brought to Houston to get back home and get out of prostitution.
Bicyclist, innocent driver dead after crash involving chase suspect in NW Harris County: HCSO
HOUSTON โ Investigators said two people are dead after a driver hit them while trying to get away from Harris County sheriffโs deputies in northwest Harris County Monday. Simon Cheng of HCSO, a deputy saw a Mercedes driven by Alexis Saborit going over the speed limit and tried to stop Saborit. The deputy said Saborit didnโt stop and led the deputy on a chase southbound on Veterans Memorial past the 249 intersection. An @HCSO_D1Patrol DWI unit was involved in a brief pursuit where the suspect went into oncoming traffic at the 9500 block of Veterans Memorial Dr. and struck another vehicle. Once released from the hospital, Saborit will be booked into the county jail charged with two counts of felony murder.

2 cousins hit, killed by vehicle in southeast Houston
HOUSTON โ Two men who were walking to their grandfatherโs house were struck and killed Monday night by a speeding vehicle, police said. โTheir Paw-paw stays right down the street, thatโs why they were over in this area,โ Michael White told KPRC 2. The crash, described as โhorrificโ by investigators, happened just after 11 p.m. at Cullen Boulevard and Edfield Street. Police said the driver of a white SUV was speeding northbound on Cullen when the vehicle hit the two pedestrians. "It appears he freaked out didn't know what he hit and veered off into the utility pole," said Lt. Barrow with HPD's vehicular crimes unit.
Driver in fatal wrong-way crash charged with intoxication manslaughter
HOUSTON โ An innocent man was killed during a wrong-way, head-on crash on the North Freeway. The crash happened around 2:12 a.m. Thursday between Airtex Drive and Rankin in north Harris County, authorities said. The passenger in the Dodge, identified as Antwon Wallace, was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. He has been charged with intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault, authorities said. Teare said authorities will be conducting an investigation into the crash to determine if anyone else played a roll in it.
