Kim Ogg’s time as Harris County District Attorney has come to an end as she concedes to Sean Teare

HOUSTON – Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg conceded to Sean Teare Tuesday night for the Harris County District Attorney seat.

Ogg was the incumbent in her third race for the DA.

“I want to thank every one of you for standing with me,” Ogg said to a crowd of supporters Tuesday night.

Ogg thanked all her friends, family, and coworkers at the Harris County District Attorney’s Office for helping her throughout her time as the DA.

She also highlighted things she was proud of during her time as the district attorney.

“Our mission was to improve public safety through evidence-based prosecution and equal justice for all, and we have stayed true to that mission and I want to thank my colleagues and my coworkers at the district attorney’s office for that,” she said.

Ogg specifically touted the fact that hundreds of thousands of people were kept from having permanent criminal records for non-violent criminal offenses.

“It gave us room to elevate the perspective and the rights of crime victims in our community, the only group who doesn’t ask to be part of the criminal justice system,” she said.

Ogg said for the last nine months of her term, she will continue to prioritize public safety.

Despite her publically conceding, Teare’s office said that have not heard from her directly.

At a separate watch party Tuesday night, Teare took to the stage to celebrate with his supporters, promising to major change across the county.

“We have a vision. We have something that we really all want to do. And what you just saw with those numbers asking the public is coming with us. The voters are coming with us. We are going to change Harris County,” Teare said.
