HOUSTON โ It was a watch party in southeast Houston to support The Voice finalist Desz in the two-night season finale. The Houston native is one of five performers to make it to the talent showโs finale. Friends in Fort Bend County held a scaled-back watch party due to COVID-19 levels but their support was strong nonetheless. โWe just witnessed John Holidayโs best song ever on The Voice,โ said friend Lee Leaman. Danielle Bradbery, of Cypress, won in 2013 and Sundance Head, son of the late rock-n-roll star Roy Head, won in 2016.

HOUSTON โ This season of The Voice features not just one but two Houstonians, and the latest superstar got all four judges to turn in her blind audition while singing Un-Break My Heart by Toni Braxton. Deszโs mom suffered an aneurysm just months later and she performed for the first time during her funeral. The 30-year-old musician went on to perform all throughout college at Prairie View A&M University with the universityโs choir, the Houston Ebony Opera and the Houston Symphony. She eventually made her way to Los Angeles, where she became a part of Kanye Westโs Sunday Service Choir. Rosenberg native turns chairs on โThe Voiceโ
HOUSTON โ NBCโs โThe Voiceโ returned this week for more rounds of blind auditions, and Rosenberg, Texas native John Holiday surprised audiences with his powerful rendition of โMistyโ by Ella Fitzgerald. During his performance, three of the coaches spun around their chairs and seemed surprised to see John standing before them. This guy is singing in a soprano range,โ said Holiday. This ability to hit such high notes is something John has been working on from a very young age. Later, after joining the Fort Bend Boys Choir of Texas, John was giving the opportunity to perform with the Houston Symphony.
