They say a 50-year-old Brownsville man was driving across Veterans International Bridge on Friday in a 2007 Ford sedan. HOUSTON – Officers shot and killed an armed man in north Houston on Thursday night, according to police. According to Houston police, the officers were responding to reports of a person with a gun. Police said that when the officers arrived, they encountered a man with a gun. According to police, officers D. Shurtleff and D. Coppola both discharged their weapons and were not injured in the incident. Shurtleff was sworn in as an officer in September 2018 and Coppola was sworn in as an officer in January 2016.

HPD: Man found dead inside car parked on exit ramp in downtown Houston

HOUSTON – A man was found dead inside a vehicle parked on a US-59 exit ramp in downtown Houston, according to Houston police. At approximately 11:30 p.m. Friday officers were dispatched to 100 block of Hamilton Street on a report of a shooting. When officers arrived on scene they observed a vehicle damaged with several bullet holes parked on an exit ramp. They found a man dead inside the vehicle. Detectives said it appears the man, a Black male 30 to 40 years of age, died from a gunshot wound.

HOUSTON – Houston authorities said veteran Houston Police Officer Sgt. Harold Preston has died after a shooting near NRG Tuesday morning. At around midnight, police said the driver took off when officers tried to pull them over on Fallbrook near Ella Boulevard. When the driver reached a dead-end and tried to turn around, officers said the police SUV blocked him in. Police said the driver rammed the SUV to try and escape but failed. No one was hurt during the incident, police said.

2 officers injured after patrol unit hydroplanes, crashes while trying to avoid disabled vehicle

HOUSTON – Two officers were injured after they were involved in a crash in west Houston. The incident happened around 1 a.m. Thursday on the Katy Freeway near Chimney Rock Road, authorities said. Police said the officers were heading westbound on the Katy Freeway when they came up on a disabled vehicle. The officers swerved from left to right to avoid the vehicle, which caused them to hydroplane and crash, authorities said. One of the officers may have suffered a broken wrist and a leg injury and the other may have a concussion, authorities said.

Suspect arrested after officer-involved shooting, SWAT standoff in Conroe

CONROE, Texas – A 24-year-old was arrested Monday after holding SWAT officers at bay at an apartment complex in Conroe. The incident started around 4 a.m. when officers responded to some sort of disturbance at Tall Timbers on S 7th St. and Silverdale. "Officers arrived, found the suspect outside, and the suspect immediately fled on foot," said Sgt.
