Robbery suspect arrested after leading officers on chase, crashing truck into NE Houston bayou

A robbery suspect was arrested on Wednesday after leading officers on a car chase in northeast Houston, according to the Houston Police Department. (kprc)

HOUSTON – A robbery suspect was arrested on Wednesday after leading officers on a car chase in northeast Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.

Police said the man had been stealing property near Calvacade Street and Los Angeles Street at approximately 2 a.m.

A Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter saw him doing this and called officers.

Officers found the suspect’s truck and he led authorities on a high-speed chase for about 15 minutes across northeast Houston. He exited the 610 Loop on Homestead Road and then crashed into a bayou.

Officers believed he might have been drowning but he later appeared and tried to run away.

About six officers eventually arrested him and they ended up covered in mud. The unidentified suspect was taken to a local hospital.

This case is under investigation.
