Suspect dies after being shot by employee during robbery, then crashing car into METRO Houston bus in north Harris Co.

HOUSTON – A robbery suspect is dead following a crash involving a METRO Houston bus after he was a shot by an employee at a nearby business in north Harris County, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

The robbery was reported around 1:16 p.m. at a retail store, located in the 15000 block of Ella Boulevard.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said the man robbed the store and an employee discharged his weapon at the suspect, possibly striking him.

Deputies said the suspect then fled the scene in a silver sedan and collided with a METRO Houston bus about a block away.

According to METRO Houston police, the bus had five passengers and operator on board during the crash. No serious injuries were reported but the bus driver was treated at the scene and then taken to a hospital to be further checked out.

Gonzalez said the suspect was taken to a hospital in critical condition where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators responded to the scene.
