Investigators said a fight broke out among a group of people, involving adult men. As the crowd began to scatter, one suspect pulled out a gun and fired multiple shots. Undercover officers were in the area at the time of the gunfire, police said.
During the shooting, a juvenile who was not involved in the fight was struck in the armpit. The juvenile was taken to a local hospital and was listed in stable condition, according to police.
Police estimated roughly 100 juveniles were in the area when the shooting happened, but emphasized the gathering was not being classified as a “takeover.” Authorities believe the gunfire was tied to the earlier fight and described it as an isolated incident, saying there is no ongoing threat to the public.
