Authorities said a caller reported seeing a man assaulting a woman just before officers arrived. Investigators determined the woman and the suspect were dating.
Police said the suspect went inside the residence and would not surrender. Patrol Support officers set up a perimeter and tried to persuade him to come out, but he continued to refuse. Because the suspect was believed to have firearms, a SWAT team was requested to assist.
An arrest warrant was obtained for the suspect on a family violence assault charge, according to HPD.
The woman was reported to be in stable condition but suffered injuries to her nose after being headbutted and was believed to have a broken nose, police said.
Authorities said the situation was isolated and that nearby residents were not in danger.
