HOUSTON – Harris County sheriff’s deputies are investigating after they said a 5-year-old girl was accidentally shot by her brother in northeast Harris County Tuesday. Deputies said the shooting happened at the Haverstock Hill Apartments located on Daleburg Drive near Lee Road. According to investigators, the girl’s mother said her son, who is six or seven years old, was playing with a gun and accidentally shot the girl in the leg. CONROE, Texas – A 6-year-old girl is dead after she was run over by a school bus Tuesday morning in Conroe, police told KPRC 2. Police said the bus driver didn’t see Sophia run in front of the bus and started driving off when the bus ran her. Investigators interviewed eyewitnesses and reviewed dashcam video from the school bus. Conroe police released a statement that read, in part, “It appears that the child lives near the bus stop and ran in front of the school bus as it was departing from the pick-up location. The Conroe Police Department sends prayers to the family, witnesses, and emergency responders for this tragedy.

HOUSTON – An 18-year-old senior at Katy’s Paetow High School was charged in connection with the kidnapping of a 15-year-old girl, according to court documents. The suspect, Zachary Bailey, appeared in court Thursday morning after being charged with aggravated kidnapping. On Monday, the girl said Bailey drove her to the 4700 block of Brighton Springs Lane in Katy and put her out on the street, according to court records. She knocked on the nearest door, asked for help and was soon reunited with her parents, according to court records. Neither, Bailey or the 16-year-old, have been charged in connection with the sexual assault.

HOUSTON – A 3-year-old girl was found safe Tuesday night after she and her mom went missing Tuesday. According to police, the girl’s mom dropped her off with a friend in Houston, who notified the Department of Family Protective Services of the girl’s whereabouts. Officials were asking for the public’s help in locating a missing 3-year-old girl and her mother who were suspected to be traveling to Dallas and Houston areas, according to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. Elly’Anna Garcia and her mother, Christina Kaput, were last seen Monday in Plainview, Texas. Kaput was ordered by a Randall County judge to hand Garcia over into state custody Monday.

TEXAS – An Amber Alert has been issued for an 8-month-old girl from Mesquite who has been missing since Friday, officials said. Mesquite police are searching for 8-month-old Nyla Crockett and the suspect tied to her abduction, Chenario Crockett, 30, officials said. The suspect was last seen wearing a gray shirt and blue jeans with black or brown boots. Law enforcement officials have not described the woman’s relationship with the missing child.
