Deputies said the crash happened on Highway 290 near Huffmeister in Northwest Harris County around 2:54 a.m. According to HCSO, a female driver was critically injured in the crash and a man died. Deputies said the man, who they believe was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle. All main lanes of 290 inbound were closed due to the fatal accident, deputies said.

HOUSTON – Emergency workers pulled two people from a crash involving a fluid spill Tuesday in northwest Houston, authorities said. The crash happened in the 10000 block of West Gulf Bank at Beltway 8 in Houston. The two people were transported to area hospitals in stable condition, according to the Cy-Fair Fire Department. Hazmat and Harris County pollution control are on-scene working to contain fluids spilled in the incident. Authorities did not say what fluids were spilled.

HOUSTON – A man wanted for family violence barricaded himself for several hours in a hotel in northwest Harris County on Friday, according to deputies. The incident started at 6 a.m. at Days Inn, in the 10600 block of Huffmeister Road. Harris County deputies negotiated with the suspect to come out of the hotel. At 2:30 p.m., deputies said the suspect was finally taken into custody. There were no hostages involved in the standoff, officials said.

HOUSTON – A teen was charged in connection with a stabbing attack of two missionaries Sunday after he confessed to the crime, according to Harris County Sheriff’s deputies. Ferman’s mugshot shows scratches on his face, which prosecutors said came from the two stabbing victims when they tried to fight back. In court, it was disclosed that Ferman allegedly confessed to breaking into his neighbors’ apartment in the 7100 block of Smiling Woods Lane in northwest Harris County. Ferman had been drinking right before the stabbing, prosecutors said. Ferman is in Harris County jail on a $120,000 bond for the two charges.

HOUSTON – Harris County Public Health officials have confirmed the first sample of the West Nile Virus in a mosquito in northwest Harris County Wednesday, officials announced in a press release. “The WNV mosquito sample was identified in the northwest quadrant of Harris County,” officials wrote. The Mosquito and Vector Control Division of Harris County Public Health began treatment to the area where the disease mosquitos were found on Tuesday to reduce the risk of human infection. “Mosquitos are around throughout the year; however, they are more prevalent during the warmer months, and typically most active from June through October,” officials wrote in a press release. “Out of the 56 species of mosquitoes found in our area, only a handful transmit diseases such as West Nile Virus, Chikungunya, Dengue and Zika.”See a map from the Harris County Health Department that shows which neighborhood is being treated.

HOUSTON – Two children and an adult were injured after a vehicle struck a day care Wednesday afternoon in northwest Harris County, according to Harris County Precinct 1 Constable Alan Rosen. The incident was reported around 2 p.m. in the 8000 block of Antoine Drive. Officials said the driver attempted to run from the scene but was arrested. Deputies said the person came out of the woods in the area and tried to cross 1960 when he was hit by the first vehicle. Shortly after being hit by the first vehicle, the person was hit by at least one other vehicle. CYPRESS, Texas – A child was flown to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle Thursday in Cypress, according to Harris County Sheriff’s Office. The incident was reported around 5 p.m. at Creekway Drive and Deep Woods Drive. Deputies said the child, possibly 7 years old, is alert but in extreme pain. Deputies said the child was flown via LifeFlight to a hospital. The driver remained at the scene, deputies said.

The robbery took less than 5 minutes, but when it was over the thieves stole nearly $40,000 in jewelry from the elderly couple in northwest Harris County, according to the couple. The couple said the crime was carried out while they were deliberately distracted following a knock at the door. The man at the door claimed he was repairing the sprinkler system for the next door neighbor and needed to access their backyard. As the husband led the man to the back, his wife went inside leaving the front door unlocked for her husband to return through. After she returned inside the home, the wife said found three other men inside who quickly rushed out.

HOUSTON – Four students were taken to a hospital after an Aldine ISD bus was involved in a crash in northwest Harris County. According to Aldine ISD, four students had to be transported to Houston Northwest Hospital. Aldine ISD says a driver was maneuvering their vehicle out of a McDonald’s parking lot and a truck struck that car. That car then struck another car and the first car that was struck by the truck hit the bus. Aldine ISD said the school’s principal is at the hospital with the students and parents will be notified.

HOUSTON – Authorities are investigating a deadly crash in Northwest Harris County. Officials say it happened when a man slammed into the back of a pickup on the 3400 block of FM 1960 around 2 a.m. Sunday. His car flipped over and he was partially ejected, killing him on scene. No one in the truck was hurt.
