HOUSTON – An alleged crime spree ended with an officer-involved shooting in Northwest Harris County.
Officers said it first started when they responded to a call about a stolen vehicle on Richmond Avenue and Jeanetta Road at about 3 a.m. Sunday.

Investigators said minutes later, the suspect robbed a convenience store at gunpoint on Westerland Drive and Westheimer Road.
Officers spotted the vehicle and followed it to Easton Commons and West Road in the Copperfield Subdivision.
“As the officers converged, he exited the stolen vehicle, ran through the courtyard and immediately started to fire at the officers,” said Assistant Chief James Skelton with the Houston Police Department.
Skelton said the officers returned fire, hitting the man. He was hospitalized in unknown condition.
None of the officers were hurt and will be placed on paid administration leave.
“We’re just glad and thankful we were able to basically stop that act and get him off our streets,” he said.
Skelton said there have been multiple incidents recently where people have pointed guns at officers.
“These officers are out here being guardians of the community where they are protecting these citizens, so to the suspects, if you’re out here, we’re going to catch you, we’re going to prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law,” said Skelton.
