HOUSTON – Firefighters from several counties battled a large fire between the Splendora and Cleveland areas for hours on Monday, KPRC 2 has learned. The Montgomery County Fire Marshal said the fire scorched at least 200 acres after fire officials had issues with the wind. Around 200 acres have burned so far and there is currently a defensive posture in fighting the fire. But I would say this is the second fire in a number of days that have exceeded 200 acres. MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – A four-year-old boy died in an ATV crash Sunday, according to authorities. At approximately 7 p.m. Sunday, Montgomery County deputies were dispatched to the Creekside ATV Park on I-69 in Splendora on a report of entrapment and a request for a rescue. On arrival, units located the child and the ATV near the back of the park in an area only accessible by ATV. The four-year-old was unresponsive. According to authorities, CPR was administered immediately and medics worked to revive the child for some time.

HOUSTON – Dozens of packages and letters were dumped on the side of the freeway Monday night in Liberty County. Postal metal crates lying in the middle of the freeway. Witnesses say the postal driver did not stop when the crates fell off. Postal inspectors were called, and then deputies put the mail back into the containers and called a wrecker to haul it away. We can confirm that a contract driver did experience an incident where some mail fell from a trailer, but all mail was quickly retrieved, secured and taken to the N. Houston Processing and Distribution facility for processing.”

HOUSTON – A driver who was involved in a road rage incident now says he has regrets about how the incident played out. The video shows Montes side-swipe Martin's car and swerving all over the road. "Chill out bro, I got a kid, I have a baby in the car," Martin is heard saying in the video. Armando Montes, 30, faces two second-degree felonies after allegedly hitting a car and a motocryclist in a road rage incident in Splendora on Nov. 26, 2019. It turns out he was right to be concerned as the video shows Montes swerving across three lanes, striking a motorcyclist.

And a lot of folks are still pretty worked up, because a Liberty County constable walked onto the field and stopped the game for a while. A Splendora player had taken a Tarkington player to the ground during the play. DeSpain said it looked to him like the Splendora player, Matteo Sloan, was choking the other boy. The constable would not talk on camera, but told Local 2 on the phone, "Appeared to me they were fighting." One of the game's referees told Local 2 that he hasn't seen anything like it in more than 20 years of officiating high school football.
