Klein, Texas – Klein Independent School District will begin using a new ID card system for the 2021-2022 school year featuring SMART cards that will offer new benefits to students, faculty, and parents. Students who ride the bus to and from school will be required to scan their cards to enter and exit school buses. With the bus notification system, parents will have the option to receive notifications that will help keep track of their children as they travel. The SMART ID cards will be distributed at the start of the school year. Daniel Canada, 35, is charged with four counts of intoxication manslaughter in connection with a crash that left a mother and three children dead. KLEIN, Texas – Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman said Monday that an impaired driver is responsible for a crash that killed a mother, two of her children and another child on Sunday near Klein. Officials said a mother and child who were in one of the burning vehicles died at the scene. He was originally charged with one count of intoxication assault with serious bodily injury and three counts of intoxication manslaughter with the possibility of upgraded charges. However, since the 2-year-old on life support died, his intoxication assault charge was upgraded to intoxication manslaughter.

KLEIN, Texas – Several people were injured Friday in a large natural gas explosion and fire near Klein that prompted an evacuation of some residents in the area. Officials from the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office said that a crew from Comcast was working in the area and nicked a natural gas line. The crew called in a CenterPoint crew to inspect the line which is when two lines exploded, officials said. Thieves target high school parking lot to steal catalytic converters
KLEIN – Bobbi Pfleger’s daughter knew something was wrong when she tried to start her mother’s SUV Tuesday in the parking lot at Klein Collins High School. “It sounded really really bad,” Pfleger recalled. “She was afraid to keep it running.”Once Pfleger’s husband arrived at the campus they discovered the vehicle’s two catalytic converters had been stolen -- just one of three converter thefts in the high school parking lot that very same day. The thieves are looking for atypical targets these days like high school parking lots. There are cameras in the parking lot but they are looking for leads.
Seven Lakes wins 6A Volleyball Title over previously undefeated Klein
Katy Seven Lakes defeated the Klein Bearkats 3-1 in four sets in Garland on Saturday to become the UIL Conference 6A Volleyball State Champions. Klein was able to win set one by a score of 26-24 over Seven Lakes. Seven Lakes was able to turn it around and rallied from behind with a score of 18-12. Seven Lakes got out to an early lead and came out with a win over Klein by a score of 25-20. Seven Lakes was able to pull off a 25-22 win to win the championship match.
Klein ISD bringing failing students back to the classroom
KLEIN, Texas – Students in the Klein Independent School District who are failing their online classes will be required to transition to in-person instruction unless they have a medical exemption. The only exception will be for students who have a medical exemption form that is signed by a doctor. Officials said dates for this transition will be provided to parents by their child’s school. This plan differs from a plan announced by officials at the Deer Park Independent School District on Thursday. The so-called Reboot 2021 plan aims to bring all students back to the classroom after the start of the new year, with medical exemptions for some students.

KLEIN, Texas – Klein ISD released its plan Friday for reopening school in five and a half weeks. Adcox is an 11th grader at Klein High School and believes it’s best if she stays home for school. “I think it’ll be more likely for me to catch it and spread it to someone who’s more vulnerable, so I don’t want that to happen,” she said. 2 students charged after firework explodes in Klein Forest High School cafeteria
KLEIN, Texas – Two students have been charged following the firework explosion inside Klein Forest High School that sent the campus into a panic. According to authorities, the two students were arrested and charged with arson after the intentionally ignited a firework that was placed inside another container in the cafeteria Tuesday. “I’m proud of our partnerships with Klein ISD Police, local law enforcement, and the District Attorney’s Office. Voters in The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County service area will decide on a $3.5 billion bond Nov. 5, after the METRO board of directors approved a resolution Aug. 13 calling for a bond election.
