Thousands of patients lose access to doctors after Memorial Hermann, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas fail to reach agreement
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas and Memorial Hermann failed to reach an agreement this week which resulted in Memorial Hermann hospitals, surgery centers and some doctors now being out of network for thousands of patients with BCBSTX insurance plans.

KPRC 2’s Phil Archer retiring after telling Houston’s story for nearly 45 years
HOUSTON – After nearly 45 years of covering the news in Houston, KPRC 2 senior reporter Phil Archer is retiring. Archer, a native of Wichita Falls, began his career with KPRC 2 in 1976, starting out as a police beat reporter and photographer. He has won awards from the Associated Press, UPI, Houston Press Club, Houston Fire Department, Association for Retarded Citizens, National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, and American Quarter Horse Association. In 1978, he received the Perringer Award from the Texas Association of Broadcasters after being stabbed and hospitalized while covering the Moody Park Riot. Veteran reporter KPRC2 Phil Archer discusses when he was stabbed during the Moody Park riots in May 1978.

HOUSTON – Rain is the only thing left of Beta and it is moving through the Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee. This batch of rain will continue to push into the mid-Atlantic states Friday before moving off shore this weekend. REWIND: See the Lone Star Flight Museum’s ‘Flight to the Finish’ mesmerize the Houston skies on Mother’s Day
Nearly 30 rare and historic warbirds painted the clear Houston sky on Mother's Day for the Lone Star Flight Museum's "Flight to the Finish" flyover. "It's just a beautiful day," said one spectator out at the Houston National Cemetery in north Harris County. Lone Star Flight Museum organized a flyover event across Houston to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of VE Day and in honor of those that served and sacrificed during World War II. The “Fight to the Finish” flyover was initially scheduled from Friday, but due to severe weather, it was postponed until Sunday. HOUSTON – April 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day and KPRC 2 is once again proud to partner with Autism Speaks to help support families across the Houston area. Today as part of World Autism Awareness Day, KPRC2 Owen Conflenti is reading a book written by a local mom and illustrated by her son who is an award-winning artist and advocate for others on the autism spectrum like himself. HOUSTON – The KPRC family came together on Friday to celebrate longtime anchor Bill Balleza who is retiring after 49 years of service. Baker Hughes, GE merger receives approval by Justice Department
HOUSTON – General Electric on Monday received U.S. antitrust approval to combine its oil and gas operations with Baker Hughes, potentially creating an oil services powerhouse with more than $32 billion in revenue. The approval is conditioned on GE selling its Water and Process Technologies business. "Today’s milestone represents significant progress toward creating an oil and gas productivity leader positioned to deliver value for customers, employees and shareholders," Baker Hughes said in a statement.
