PEARLAND, Texas – A regional Amber Alert has ended for a 1-year-old boy from Pearland who was taken by his mother Monday night, officials said. Pearland police said Tuesday that Jaivan Simpson was found safe with his mother. He was taken by 22-year-old Jada Williams about 7 p.m. Williams had threatened to hurt herself and the child, according to officials. The child was released to family members and Williams was taken into custody for a terroristic threat misdemeanor, according to police. Police said the case is still being investigated.

KATY, Texas – A 4-year-old boy was flown to a hospital in serious condition after an ATV crash in Katy Sunday evening, officials said. The incident was reported in Dinner Creen near the 6400 block of Barker Cypress Road. Officials said the boy was treated by by Cy-Fair Fire Department EMS and flown via Memorial Hermann Flight to a hospital. Officials said three others on the ATV were evaluated at the scene but refused treatment. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause of the incident.

HOUSTON – A three-year-old boy died after he accidentally shot himself in the chest Saturday afternoon during a child’s birthday party in Porter, according to Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded to the call around 4:15 p.m. to a call on the 23000 block of Owens Road. Family and friends at the party said they gathered to celebrate a child’s birthday, according to deputies. The child was found with a gunshot wound to the chest, deputies said. The child was rushed to a nearby fire station, where he was pronounced dead.

SALT LAKE CITY A police department vowed Tuesday to cooperate with multiple investigations of the shooting of a 13-year-old autistic boy by officers in the Salt Lake City area. The Salt Lake City Police Department said the officers were called to a home in Glendale, Utah, Friday night with a report of a boy who had threatened people with a weapon. The boy reportedly ran and was shot by an officer after being pursued by police. No weapon was found Friday, the Salt Lake Tribune reported. Salt Lake Mayor Erin Mendenhall said in a statement late Sunday that the shooting was a tragedy and called for a swift and transparent investigation.

An 8-year-old South Carolina boy who told his mom he was afraid of the police has a new and unexpected friend. Gavin Williamson says he was scared of law enforcement before meeting Deputy Kerry Shelton last week. His mom, Ashton Williamson, says she saw Deputy Sheltons cruiser on the side of the road and decided to pull over and introduce Gavin to the deputy. Thats when a new friendship formed. Gavin says he now sees law enforcement in a different light and wants to be an officer when he gets older.

HOUSTON – A boy who went missing in the Sunnyside area Thursday morning has been found safe. According to Houston police, 9-year-old Romello Carter went missing about 10 a.m. from his home in the 8100 block of Bowen Street, which is near the intersection of Scott and Hondo streets. Romello was found safe about 5 p.m. Thursday and was reunited with his family, police said.

HOUSTON An Amber Alert has been issued for a 7-month-old Port Arthur boy who police believe was abducted Monday evening. Baby Jason Roberts, 7-month-old, was last seen wearing a gray onesie. Nathan Roberts was last seen wearing a black muscle shirt and black pants, officials said. Nathan Roberts was last heard from in Port Arthur, officials said. Anyone with information regarding this abduction is asked to call the Port Arthur Police Department at 409-983-8601.

A 17-year-old boy drowned at Crystal Beach while visiting with his grandmother, according to Galveston County Sheriff’s OfficeOfficials said the grandmother turned around to get something out of the car and when she turned back around the boy was missing. She said she looked for him for about 45 minutes before she called the sheriff’s office. The teen’s body was found 10 miles away, officials said. Officials said it is not clear how the boy drowned, but there wasn’t much beach area due to the storm. The waves were coming pretty far up on the beach and could be strong enough to knock you down, officials said.

HOUSTON – A 4-year-old boy died Tuesday afternoon after his older sibling accidentally shot him, according to the La Porte Police Department. The incident was reported around 2:20 p.m. in the 10200 block of Old Orchard Road. La Porte police said the child was airlifted to the Medical Center for treatment where he later died. The circumstances surrounding the shooting are under investigation. Please check back for updates.

HOUSTON – The body of a child that was found at Crystal Beach during a search for a 10-year-old boy who went missing while swimming has been confirmed as that of the 10-year-old Micah Batson, officials said. The body of the boy was recovered about a fifth of a mile from where the 10-year-old boy was said to have disappeared, according to Galveston County Sheriff Henry Trochesset. Officials said they received a call from a woman Saturday, who said her husband and child were missing in Crystal Beach on the Bolivar Peninsula. Officials confirmed the father was found alive Saturday.

HOUSTON – A 15-year-old boy was hospitalized after he was shot Tuesday night during a drive-by at a family park in southeast Houston, police said. The shooting was reported around 7:30 p.m. at Ingrando Park along Keller Street. Houston police said a white Jeep drive by the park and someone inside fired several shots. Police said one of the bullets struck the teen in the leg. Anyone with information is asked to call the Houston Police Department.

CHIBA, Japan – A 2-year-old boy and his family recently got quite a scare at Japanese zoo. After a staring contest with the toddler a lion rushed toward the boy and tried to jump on him. Fortunately the big cat hit a glass wall that separates the animal from human visitors. [See also: Gorilla hits glass so hard it cracks]Zookeepers say the lion weighs more than 400 pounds and has a habit of frolicking when he sees small children because he wants to play with them. The zoo set up the glass display in April to enable visitors to get a closer look at lions.

FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas – The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office is responding to an auto pedestrian accident Friday in the Mission Bend area. Officials say a 9-year-old boy was riding his bicycle in the 16100 block of Crooked Arrow Drive when he was hit by a Toyota 4Runner. The boy was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital by LifeFlight. There is no word on his condition.
