HOUSTON โ A federal judge issued an order to uphold Harris County drive-thru voting but stated that the tents being used to house most drive-thru voting centers will not qualify as โbuildings,โ which are required for Election Day polling locations. Instead of 10 drive-thru locations, the Toyota Center will be the only drive-thru voting center available in Harris County on Election Day because of the new order. In order to allow for drive-thru voting on Election Day while ensuring that all votes will be counted, the only drive-thru voting center on Election Day will be at Toyota Center. Woodfill said he would immediately appeal the decision, accusing Harris County officials of using their office to help Democrats win Tuesday. Harris County had originally offered 10 drive-thru locations as an option for its nearly 5 million residents amid worries of spreading the coronavirus.

28,000 meals distributed as part of Rockets, Second Servings food distribution event
HOUSTON โ The Houston Rockets and Second Servings teamed up Thursday to give out thousands of free meals at the Toyota Center. โTheyโre helping us and Iโm helping her.โThe Rockets and Second Servings were distributing 28,000 take-home, chef-prepared meals. โItโs all hearty comfort food, delicious meals,โ said Kristen Torrez, of Second Servings. Each box contains eight meals and each car gets two boxes -- 16 meals for every family, plus milk, chips, cookies and packaged salads. Weโre all in this together.โโThe food distribution was set at noon Thursday.

New COVID-19 antibody testing available at Toyota Center
HOUSTON โ A new COVID-19 antibody testing is available in Houston, which has proven to be highly accurate in determining the existence of coronavirus antibodies in a personโs system. Genalyte, a California-based diagnostics company, is offering its SARS-CoV-2 Multi-Antigen Serology Panel at the Toyota Center at 1510 Polk St.Genalyte will begin accepting appointments on Wednesday. Genalyte completed the LDT certification for its SARS-CoV-2 Serology Panel and is completely compliant with all regulations. Genalyteโs U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-cleared Maverickโข Diagnostic System will expand antibody testing in the fight against COVID-19 with the launch of its SARS-CoV-2 Multi-Antigen Serology Panel. The Genalyte serology test also has a very low false-positive rateโwith accuracy exceeding 99 percent, according to Gunn.
This is how big venues, airports in Houston are protecting against spread of coronavirus
HOUSTON โ A number of large venues across Houston from the George Bush Intercontinental Airport to the Toyota Center are taking steps to combat the coronavirus. โWe know a lot of people travel through our airports, so we really want to emphasize our message, and just to do our part,โ said Houston Airport System spokesperson Augusto Bernal. There are eight total coronavirus cases in the Houston area โ three confirmed cases and five presumptive positive cases. The Who is coming back to Houston; Here is what you need to know
HOUSTON โ The Who is coming back to Houston! After their disappointing show in September โ when the concert was canceled eight songs in because lead singer Roger Daltrey lost his voice โ the band promised they would be back, and they are following through on their word. New information on the Toyota Center website showed that the rescheduled concert will be held on Thursday, April 30 at 7:30 p.m.Tickets start as low as $35 a ticket for seats in the nosebleeds and up to over $1,300 for floor seats, according to the website. The band promised to honor all tickets from the abbreviated show, but the Toyota Center does not have any information about what previous ticket holders should do, or if those tickets will actually be honored. We also searched zip code 77027, the zip code for the teamโs previous home The Summit, now Lakewood Church, and Clutch City did not show up. It seems that by the team relocating to the Toyota Center the new zip code took on the Clutch City name.
TSU athletic director calls fight at basketball game 'tremendous mistake'
HOUSTON โ Texas Southern University's athletic director, Charles McClelland, is calling a fight that broke out Saturday at a women's basketball game "a tremendous mistake." Texas Southern announced Monday night the women's basketball team will not participate in the upcoming Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament taking place this weekend at the Toyota Center. The players have also reached out to Southern University and apologized for the behavior. It appears that a player from Southern University committed a charging foul that caused a player from TSU to fall. The women's basketball team from Texas Southern University was playing Southern University from Louisiana for the Southwestern Athletic Conference women's basketball regular-season title when the bench-clearing fight broke out midway through the second half.
Rockets Beat OKC 105-103 to stay alive
HOUSTON โ It took every second of the game but the Rockets found a way to beat Oklahoma City and avoid a sweep at Toyota Center after a 105-103 win in Game 4 Monday Night. The Rockets trailed 60-53 at the half but then came out and outscored the Thunder 38-24 in the 3rd quarter to claim the lead. Chandler Parsons led the Rockets with 27 points while Omir Asik added 17 points and 14 rebounds. Kevin Durant led the Thunder with 38 points in the loss. Game 5 is Wednesday night in Oklahoma City.
