Tomball, Texas – In its December 6 meeting, the Tomball City Council approved multiple ordinances pertaining to an undeveloped plot lot of land of approximately 240 acres east of Highway 249, near Rocky Road and Grand Parkway. The ordinances finalize plans for the area to be annexed into Tomball city limits and to be developed for light industrial, distribution, and retail space. The land is owned by Lovett Industrial, the real estate development firm that is looking to build on the plot. Plans for development include 3.3 million square feet of light industrial and distribution facilities and 3,000 square feet of retail space. Lovett Industrial and the City of Tomball have been in negotiations to develop the 240 acres since September 7, 2021.

Man found with stolen mail during traffic stop in Harris County
A traffic stop turned up stolen mail in west Harris County. Deputies said they found papers, letters and other documents in the trunk of the vehicle. The stop happened at a Metro Park and Ride near Katy Freeway and the Grand Parkway, according to Harris County Sheriffs Office. US Postal inspectors have started a federal investigation. Deputies say the driver was charged with DWI.
Mother charged with intoxication assault after son injured in fiery crash on Grand Parkway
A woman and her six-year-old son were injured Saturday morning when their car collided with a cable barrier on Grand Parkway. At about 2:40 a.m., deputies from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a car fire on Grand Parkway near FM 2920. Arriving units located a woman, who has been identified as 28-year-old Erika Long, and her son injured outside of their burning vehicle. The woman was charged with intoxication assault, said Sean Teare, of the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. Authorities said Long was previously charged with DWI with a child passenger and child endangerment.

Spring, Texas Two people are dead after being thrown from a sports bike during an accident on the Grand Parkway early Friday morning. The accident happened in the 6500 block of the Grand Parkway around 1:00 AM. Investigators say the sports bike struck a guardrail while traveling eastbound on the Grand Parkway. The two riders were thrown over the concrete barrier and landed on Kuykendahl Road. The accident remains under investigation by the Harris County Sheriffs Office Vehicular Crimes Division.

Tolls Waived on Harris County Governed Toll Roads Over Next 30 Days
Spring, Texas Harris County Commissioners voted to waive tolls on all Harris County toll roads moments after Judge Lina Hidalgo issued a stay home-work safe order for Harris County. Tolls will be waived on all Harris County governed toll roads for a period of 30-days. The Grand Parkway does not fall within this order as it is governed by the Texas Department of Transportation. The vote passed 3-2; Precinct 3 Commissioner Steve Radack and Precinct 4 Commissioner Jack Cagle voted against the suspension of tolls. The stay home-work safe order is in effect until April 3, 2020, unless extended or revised.

Several witnesses told authorities they saw a yellow Chevy Camaro and a motorcycle speeding in the eastbound lanes of the Grand Parkway in what appeared to be a street race. Deputies said witnesses told them the motorcycle was dark-colored, but it did not have any other marking that could help identify it. The Grand Parkway was closed for seven hours while investigators and crews worked to clear the scene.

An apartment complex near the intersection of Franz Road and the Grand Parkway is almost ready for new residents to move in. In total, the apartment complex will have 324 one- and two-bedroom units leasing at around $1,200-$1,800 per month, she said. Thats about 70 miles of improved road in Fort Bend, Brazoria and Galveston counties that might not happen. Engineering work is underway on a new 533-acre community that will be situated on both sides of the northwest corner of the Grand Parkway, just north of the Cypress area. The currently unnamed community is being developed by Ersa Grae Corporation, a Houston-based real estate management and development company. Workers are in the process of engineering the communitys major facilities, including water plants, sewer plants and detention, said Houman Samanian, residential development manager with Ersa Grae. We are estimating to have [engineering work]wrapped up probably by the end of summer and then we can initiate our construction, Samanian said. Because of its location in the Little Cypress Creek watershed, the community is subject to stricter development standards to ensure stormwater flows are not increased downstream and into Cypress Creek.
