Two 8-year-old girls among 25 storm-related deaths in Harris County
While many are dealing with property damages related to busted pipes, dozens of families are struggling with a much heavier burden: The loss of a loved one. Throughout Greater Houston, at least 25 people have died from the effects of the storm. The majority of them were over the age of 50, and all but five died of hypothermia in the extreme temperatures. Most deaths occurred inside homes or apartments, while others died at hospitals. AdAs a result, five board members of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas announced they would resign Wednesday.

The latter park’s website notes fall color is coming slightly earlier this year because of cold weather in September. East Texas provides plenty of opportunities for fall foliage lovers, with its heavily wooded areas. David Creech, director of SFA Gardens, notes the best time to see the Japanese maples in fall color is the end of November and early December. The predictive map pulls historical data and seasonal forecast predictions from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to predict the precise moment peak fall will occur county-by-county across the US. The map is one of the only fall leaf tools that provides accurate predictions for the entire continental US, according to the Smoky Mountains tourism site. The map appears to show that by November 2, every state in the US will see at least a little bit of foliage.

History was made in Missoula, where the city broke its September snowfall record of 1.5 inches set in 1934.

However, it will tap into some drier air spilling in from the Midwest, which should take away some of the humidity through the afternoons. 2 MondayThe second cold front is the one we've been waiting for to finally kick off October properly.
