Murder suspect arrested after leading Houston police on chase, striking several vehicles
HOUSTON โ Investigators said a man with a violent history is in custody following a chase in Houston where he struck several vehicles on Tuesday. The constableโs office said Chambliss had removed an ankle monitor and was out on a PR bond for a murder charge in Hays County, which is southwest of Austin. After roughly two years behind bars, Hays County District Attorney Wes Mau said Chambliss requested his $250,000 bond be reduced. Court records show a judge granted a PR bond with GPS monitor in 2019 โunder extreme protestโ from the prosecutor. Investigators said Chambliss could face additional charges in Harris County for the chase, but those details have not been released yet.

HOUSTON โ Harris County Precinct 1 Constable Alan Rosen and other local officials unveiled an Eviction Assistance Program Wednesday to help those facing eviction due to the coronavirus pandemic. The program is designed to provide resources to help people facing eviction navigate challenges. Some in the Precinct 1 Constableโs Office wondered if anyone would show up on Wednesday for the event, but cars lined up before dawn. The nearly $250,000 raised will fund the new program, which provides free legal help and other services from community partners for tenants and landlords. In an emotional press conference Friday, held with Harris County Precinct 1 Constable Al Rosen, 24-year-old Israel Rodriguez said the donated money would help him get his life back together. In between tears, Rodriguez said he was grateful for the money that was donated to help him and his family, including his two young children, ages 2 and 4. โEverybody that helped me out all over the world.โRodriguez said heโs now staying at a hotel. The public response even touched Rosen, whose office handled the eviction. The constable said his office is also holding off on evictions for now following the recent CDC moratorium.
Man accused of sexually assaulting teen he met through social media app, officials say
HOUSTON A man is accused of sexually assaulting a teen that he met through a social media app on June 2, according to investigators with the Human Trafficking Division of the Harris County Precinct One Constables Office. Juan Miguel Moncada, 25 was arrested and charged with two felony offenses: Sexual assault of a child and tampering with evidence on July 30. Women and girls are too often treated as criminals in cases like this, said Constable Alan Rosen. Precinct One has established a hotline where you can always report human trafficking. Anyone with information about human trafficking victims is asked to call 832-927-1650.
Ex-Houston Chronicle sports reporter accused of attempted sexual assault of child, online solicitation
HOUSTON โ An ex-Houston Chronicle sports reporter was arrested Thursday and faces new charges of attempted sexual assault of a child and online solicitation, according to the Harris County Precinct 1 Constableโs Office. Officials say subsequent investigations led to new charges being filed against him and his arrest Thursday near the 100 block of Chelsea Boulevard, in the cityโs Museum District. โInvestigators say Atkins began chatting with a 15 year old girl on Instagram last December,โ officials wrote on Facebook. We believe the girl was with Atkins on at least three occasions.โHunter Atkins, 31, faces charges including with attempted sexual assault of a child and online solicitation, according to the Harris County Precinct 1 Constable's Office. Such predators will not be tolerated.โThe Houston Chronicle reports Atkins was employed at the newspaperโs sports department until February.
2 children, 1 adult hurt after vehicle slams into day care in NW Harris County, officials say
HOUSTON โ Two children and an adult were injured after a vehicle struck a day care Wednesday afternoon in northwest Harris County, according to Harris County Precinct 1 Constable Alan Rosen. The incident was reported around 2 p.m. in the 8000 block of Antoine Drive. Officials said the driver attempted to run from the scene but was arrested. Harris County Precinct 1 partners with faith-based leaders to give out free masks, gloves
Each driver waited patiently to get free masks and gloves. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez addressed Thursday a rumor circulating of a planned mass release of inmates at the county jail. However, the Harris County Sheriff's Office does report that the inmate population is smaller since the coronavirus pandemic took hold. daily jail population was around 9,100. The Harris County Jail is monitoring the temperatures of inmates.
