Texas EquuSearch founder to drop lawsuit against Galveston County
Tim Miller, founder of Texas EquuSearch, tells KPRC2 he is dropping his lawsuit against Galveston County. Miller filed suit against the county in May. The lawsuit came after yet another decades old mix-up with his daughterโs remains was discovered. Miller first sued Galveston County in 1997 when Lauraโs body was exhumed and it was discovered not all of her remains had been buried. Miller said he then received a October 2019 from the Galveston County Medical Examinerโs Office, notifying him human remains were found in a file box bearing the case number for Lauraโs murder.

METRO is adding this new safety feature to protect drivers and riders against COVID-19
METRO continues to add safety measures to protect drivers and riders against COVID-19 and those service updates are to start June 1. Currently, METRO is encouraging riders and drivers to use face coverings and theyโve increased cleaning. Furthermore, they will be installing plastic enclosures for operators on vehicles which serve METROLift customers. The plastic coverings will also be installed in the yellow METROLift taxi cabs. As a reminder, METRO continues to encourage riders to use public transit for only essential trips.
Dangerous Midtown intersection underneath Brazos Street Bridge getting facelift
This is the area weโre talking about where the City of Houston decided to reconstruct the Brazos Street Bridge on the Spur 527, instead of creating a progressive green space concept some people wanted. The cityโs planner tells Traffic Expert Anavid Reyes they worked hard to improve the intersection where Bagby, Smith and Holman street all come together underneath the Brazos Street Bridge for this type of active transportation. improvement schematic designThe plan is to rebuild the Brazos Street Bridge on the Spur 527 first. The goal for the Bagby/ Holman/Smith street intersection underneath that bridge is to make it safer, especially because right now, residents say itโs not. An update for drivers: the southbound turning lane from Smith onto Holman Street will also be removed at this intersection because not a lot of people use it anyway.
How people without vehicles, disabilities are getting tested for COVID-19
HOUSTON โ Several COVID-19 testing sites have been added around the Houston area, especially in areas determined to be high risk. But what resources are available to get people to these testing sites if they do not have a car or other means of proper transportation? The mayor has appointed two directors of the mayorโs office for People with Disabilities to tackle this issue, who are themselves disabled. They too have wondered how are they going to get to a testing site in the midst of this pandemic. Another option is that a vehicle can be scheduled to drive to the personโs home to pick them up and take them to the testing site.
