Man dies after being pulled from mobile home fire in Willis, firefighters say
WILLIS, Texas โ A man is dead after a fire broke out in a mobile home in Willis Tuesday, officials said. Firefighters said the deadly fire happened around midnight on South Cochran and FM 2432. When crews arrived, officials said one side of the home was engulfed in flames. Firefighters said they were able to get in through a window on the other end of the home, where they pulled the man out. Paramedics attempted CPR but could not save him, officials said.
Authorities: Willis man contacts 911, turns himself in after killing his wife
WILLIS, Texas A Willis man is in custody after authorities said he contacted 911 to turn himself in in connection with his wifes death. The incident happened around 3:15 p.m. Thursday at a home on Big Bow Bend in Montgomery County, according to the Montgomery County Sheriffs Office. Austin Vance, 28, drove to the Precinct 1 Constables Office where he contacted 911 and said he wanted to turn himself in for shooting his wife, authorities said. Vance was detained at the scene and constable deputies were dispatched to his home, where they found his wife, identified as 29-year-old Elizabeth Vance, dead from an apparent gunshot wound, authorities said. Authorities said Vance was taken into custody and charged with murder.
UPDATE: Teen dies after suffering burns across half her body during Willis house fire
WILLIS, Texas โ UPDATE: Montgomery Fire Department confirmed Thursday that the 18-year-old girl who suffered burns over half her body passed away. Original story: The North Montgomery Fire Department is investigating after rescuing a teen from a blaze they said left more than half of her body burned. According to firefighters, an 18-year-old has second and third-degree burns to more than 50% of her body. Officials said the teen was found unconscious in a closet but firefighters were able to get her pulse back. These smoke alarms will last up to 10 years and are available at no cost, due to generous donations from the local business community.

Gatorade truck bound for Houston rolls over in Willis
WILLIS, Texas โ A truck hauling 40,000 pounds of Gatorade that was bound for Houston rolled over early Friday in Willis. The crash was reported just after midnight on the southbound side of Interstate 45 at Calvary Road. Troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety said the truck traveled off the roadway, through a media and up an incline before it rolled over. The driver suffered minor injuries, troopers said. Part of the interstate was closed while crews unloaded the pallets of sports drinks from the truck.

WILLIS, Texas โ Authorities have released the 911 call placed by a man who was impaled by a fence post while driving in Montgomery County. 911 operator: โOK, Jake. 911 operator: โJake are you there? Send help.โThe paramedics arrived shortly after and rushed to cut Jake out of the truck. The fence post went through his liver, bruised his lungs and damaged his rib cage.
