Montgomery County man arrested for fentanyl-related murder

A Montgomery County man has been arrested and charged with fentanyl murder for allegedly selling fentanyl that resulted in a fatal overdose.

On March 16, Montgomery County Narcotics Enforcement Team responded to a death investigation on Barberry Street in Willis. A 21-year-old male was found deceased, later confirmed to have died from fentanyl overdose.

Following the investigation, Keian Alexander Cormier was identified as the supplier of the fentanyl. On May 21, Cormier was arrested and charged with murder.

Since 2019, MOCONET and Houston HIDTA have been addressing fentanyl trafficking in Montgomery County. Under House Bill 6, enacted on September 1, 2023, individuals can be charged with “Fentanyl Murder” if their distribution leads to death. This new law facilitated the murder charge against Cormier.
