HOUSTON – The two Houston area men who were most recently arrested and charged for allegedly being involved in the deadly Capitol riot can be seen on video inside the Capitol, federal investigators say. “You never know what’s going on in the house next door to you or who is around you,” the neighbor said. “To see what they did, to breach the Capitol the way that they did. Federal investigators believe Larocca drove from Texas to Washington D.C. with Christian Cortez. Federal investigators are hoping to identify more people suspected to be involved in the insurrection.

All clear given in La Porte after fire in Seabrook prompts shelter-in-place order

LA PORTE, Texas – A shelter-in-place order that was issued for parts of La Porte because of a fire in Seabrook has been lifted. Emergency officials said the fire was burning at the Odfjell Terminal Houston facility on Port Road and the shelter-in-place was issued as a precaution. The Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office said a pallet and hydraulic fluid were burning and that the fire was out. Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo said the county’s Pollution Control Department and the Fire Marshal’s Office were monitoring air quality in the area. In a statement, Odfjell officials said the air samples that have been collected meet acceptable air quality standards.

UPDATE: Coast Guard suspends search for missing man and woman near Seabrook after bodies matching description found

SEABROOK, Texas – The Coast Guard rescued a 13-year-old girl but ended its search for two other people in the water near Seabrook Wednesday afternoon after two bodies were discovered that matched the description of the missing boaters, officials announced. The Coast Guard said a boat crew arrived on-scene and rescued a 13-year-old girl who told them two other people were still missing. According to the Coast Guard, the missing boaters were a man in his early 60′s and a woman in her early 30′s. Officials said at about 8:27 a.m. Wednesday, a search crew found a body that matched the description of the missing man in this 60s. At about 3 p.m., officials found another body that matched the description of the missing woman in her 30s.

Defiant Seabrook bar remains open Sunday night after TABC suspends permit for 30 days due to violation of Gov.‘s orders

SEABROOK, Texas – A Seabrook bar defiantly reopened Sunday night after the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission suspended its permit for 30 days for not following health guidelines Saturday. In a post on Facebook, the bar wrote that they “will fight” the temporary license suspension. Jeff Schafer, general manager of BARge 295 told KPRC 2 the establishment has been operating in accordance with Governor Greg Abbott’s guidelines. Schafer said he does not believe the citation is legal and told KPRC 2 Barge 295 owners plan to appeal. According to TABC, a second citation could result in a 60-day liquor license suspension.

73-year-old man accused of exposing himself to children at Houston-area library

SEABROOK, Texas – A man was charged and arrested after police say they caught him exposing himself to children at a Houston-area library, Seabrook police said. Richard Morgan, 73, of Houston, was arrested and charged with indecency with a child. Police said a witness at the Evelyn Meador Library told officials that, on Jan. 14, a man was exposing himself inside the library. After investigating the report, Seabrook Detective Larry Moore, with the help of library staff, was able to identify the suspect as Morgan. On Jan. 15, Moore identified and located Morgan inside the library and saw him exposing himself and was arrested, police said.

Seabrook’s former city councilman, mayor pro tem sentenced to federal prison for child porn convictions

HOUSTON – A U.S. attorney announced that 65-year-old Ocal John Miller will serve 120 months in federal prison for possessing child pornography. Miller served as the chief of police in Martinsville, West Virginia, and was also a city councilman and mayor pro tem in Seabrook. In June 2016, Miller was identified by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The organization alerted the Houston Metro Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, which opened an investigation. Miller pleaded guilty on Oct. 3, 2019, after authorities found more than 1,300 images and 1,000 videos of child pornography.

Seabrook's former mayor pro tem guilty of child porn possession

Ocal John Miller, 68, served as the chief of police in Martinsville, West Virginia, and was also a city councilman and mayor pro tem in Seabrook. He also used Dropbox and Kik Messenger to store child porn. Miller pleaded guilty and is set for sentencing on Dec. 12. He faces a minimum of five years and up to 20 years in prison for receiving the porn, and a maximum of 10 years in prison for possessing the child porn.

Life Storage renovating in Seabrook

Life Storage, 3400 Bayport Blvd., Seabrook, is undergoing a major renovation that began in June. When complete, the business will have a new and improved facade. Life Storage was one of several businesses affected by the Hwy. Right-of-way acquisitions required the business to demolish and rebuild farther back from the highway. McDonalds opened in early July at 2800 Bayport Blvd., Seabrook, seven months after its previous location at 2164 Bayport Blvd. was demolished to make way for the Hwy. 146 widening project. Hwy. 146 bridge closure Aug. 4-5

146 widening project through Seabrook and Kemah, one lane of the bridge will be closed for 36 hours from just after midnight Aug. 4 through noon Aug. 5, according to a city of Seabrook press release. From midnight to about noon Aug. 4, crews will pour a large new section of the bridge deck necessary to widen the bridge. The lane will remain closed another 24 hours to minimize vibrations that could cause the newly poured deck to crack, according to the release. The original closure was expected to begin July 31 but was pushed back to Aug. 4, the release reads. 146 bridge closed July 29, and the closure is expected to last a month.
