A former University of Houston - Downtown employee is accused of spending thousands of dollars in public money on personal purchases when she worked as an administrative assistant in the Division of Advancement and University Relations, records show.

Electronic scooters could soon be banned from Houston sidewalks
โWe donโt want scooters on the sidewalks, just as we donโt encourage people to ride bikes on the sidewalks. A: The Chapter 26 amendment specifically prohibits the commercial display and rentals of motor-assisted scooters in the public right-of-way. This means that parking in a legal public parking space for the purpose of renting scooters is prohibited. The public right-of-way is for the public use of pedestrians, public vehicular traffic, and utilities. Personal riders are subject to citations for violating the prohibition of riding motor-assisted scooters on sidewalks.

New Downtown food court Underground Hall opens its doors
Located at 1010 Prairie St. in Downtown, the fresh arrival is called Underground Hall. According to the business's Facebook page, Underground Hall is "Downtown's new casual and refreshed food hall." The spot includes four new restaurants (Treacherous Leches, Wokker, Hotline Burger and Don Juan Tacos) along with two bars ( Beer Market and Underbar). And Olivia S. wrote, "Underground Hall is an awesome new food hall in Downtown Houston. Underground Hall is open from 11 a.m.10 p.m. on Monday-Thursday and 11 a.m.midnight on Friday and Saturday.
โBe Someoneโ sign painted with George Floyd name in Houston
HOUSTON โ The iconic โBe Someoneโ sign was recently painted over with George Floydโs name. The train bridge is visible from southbound Interstate 45 into downtown or from the Crockett Street bridge over Interstate 45. The landmark is one of the cityโs most recognizable signs, and occasionally, the sign is altered. In March, the artwork was changed to raise awareness about coronavirus. The sign read: โWash Ur Hands.โ
Police find missing 94-year-old Houston man about 100 miles away

According to the Houston Police Department, 94-year-old Richard Terrell Jennings went missing around 6 p.m. Wednesday. Jennings last spoke to a family by phone and told that person he was stuck in traffic on Emancipation Avenue, police said. Police said a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper located Jennings in La Grange, Texas. Jennings was taken to a nearby hospital for observation, police said.
Part of Pierce Elevated closed near downtown Houston after crane hits bridge
HOUSTON โ Part of the Pierce Elevated is closed near downtown Houston after a construction crane hit the bridge. The crash was reported about 2 p.m. Wednesday on the northbound side of the bridge near McKinney Street. Houston police said all northbound lanes of the bridge will be closed for several hours while crews work to inspect the bridge. By Wednesday night, it appeared crews were blocking the McKinney Street exit ramp on the southbound side of Interstate 45. Officials said they could not provide an estimated time when the bridge would reopen.
