In the first two months of 2023, Houston police made 298 arrests dealing with prostitution, purchasing prostitution, and human trafficking. With hundreds of thousands of fans expected in the Bayou City through Monday during the NCAA Final Four, advocates and law enforcement are gearing up for human trafficking cases.

Known for being one of the biggest seafood boils brought to Houston, the family-friendly event will be held at Live Oak Houston, located at 2533 Southmore Blvd. Over the past few years, nearly 2,000 seafood lovers have attended the festival for a feast of crawfish, crab, shrimp, sausage, potatoes and corn, featuring entertainment from the cityโs top DJs. Some passes are available free of charge, while other ticket options include all-you-can-eat crawfish or all-you-can-eat crab and shrimp, or both.
THSCA Leadership Makes Stop in Houston to Spread Safety Initiative
The powers of the Texas High School Coaches Association made a stop in Houston, bringing the F.A.S.T. Hosted by HISD athletic director Andre Walker at Delmar Fieldhouse, Executive Director Joe Martin, and Assistant Executive Director Glen West were on hand to relay the initiative. The F.A.S.T. Clinic is to teach coaches the proper techniques to instruct their players to lead with their shoulders and not their heads. VYPE's Matt Malatesta caught up with Martin and West to get their thoughts on the THSCA's initiative.

Houston had the most dog attacks of postal workers in the country in 2019
1 city in the country when it comes to the most dog attacks reported by mail carriers, the U.S. The Bayou City recorded 85 dog attacks in 2019 while Dallas, ranked No. Texas ranks second overall with a total of 491 dog attacks statewide. Nationwide, dog attacks fell to 5,280 in 2019, which is 200 lower than 2018 according to the release. โWe are confident we can keep moving the trends of attacks downward, and ramping up overall awareness for everyone is the best way to do that.โUSPS will be highlighting postal worker safety next week as part of National Dog Biting Awareness Week, which is June 14-20.

When was the coldest day ever in Houston?
The coldest day in Houstonโs history was on Jan. 18, 1930, when a temperature of 5 degrees was recorded downtown. The next day, the mercury dipped to 7 degrees at Bush Airport, marking the coldest temperature ever recorded there. December 1989 turned out to be the coldest month in history for not only Houston, but also Galveston and College Station. Sanchez said initially they only knew of 20 street signs, but thanks to social media and the app they created called the Blue Tile Project App , they've located 3,450 blue tiles through geotags.
