In Aldine ISD, the kings and queens of the district when it comes to the cross county course have been the athletes that don the MacArthur red.

We enter year four with Aldine ISD and this edition focuses on the "Rich in Tradition" that the district possesses.

Going into his start against Dobie last weekend, MacArthur's Ryan Dollar wasn't feeling it. Let's just say Dollar can overcome adversity as the junior threw a no-hitter in a 5-1 win. "It was about the second inning when I started feeling it," he said. "Especially when the other team started talking. When not on the mound, Dollar also plays shortstop for the Generals and is one of the top sticks in the lineup.

At the end of January, Aldine ISD's best swimmers took to the pool to try and punch their tickets to the Region IV Championships at the District 15-6A Championships. When the scores were all compiled MacArthur women's swimming team took second place overall, led by Carmen Pedraza, Gissele Rodriguez, and Georgina Aguinaga. The Nimitz women's team took fourth, guided by Bailey Johnson. Aldine Davis men took third place overall – led by strong relay teams – while Eisenhower men finished fourth. The 2020 Fall season has been a fast and furious one as sports have picked up steam. Aldine ISD had a slightly later start than other school districts around the city but Aldine, Davis, Eisenhower, Macarthur and Nimitz have hit the ground running on the football field, volleyball court, cross country courses and tennis courts. Aldine ISD fans will have to pick up this magazine. This 40-page magazine features ever football and volleyball team, cross country teams, a feature on the MacArthur team tennis program and stories about all the cover athletes. The Eisenhower Eagles got a big overtime win over a tough Nimitz squad 33-27 to go 3-1 in district play. RB Waymon Finley led the way on the ground with some punishing runs. Next up for Ike is MacArthur, while Nimitz faces Westfield.

When the MacArthur tennis coaching position came open in 2014, it was one that Brandon Blake jumped at. In the 2020 UIL Team Tennis playoffs, MacArthur made history defeating Oak Ridge, 10-9, in the bi-district round, securing the school's first-ever playoff victory in the 55-year history of the school. It’s also the first time a team from Aldine ISD advances to the 2nd round of the UIL Team Tennis playoffs in the 21st century! In team tennis, Blake said he saw how much of an impact jumping out to a lead with doubles could do. That emphasis has paid off, notching team tennis wins over programs like Kingwood Park and Atascocita over the past few years.
