Netflix once again dominates Golden Globe TV nominations

The streaming giant scooped up 20 small-screen nods โ nearly three times as many as its closest competitor, HBO, and beating the 17 TV nominations it got last year. Streaming newcomer HBO Max scored two nominations with โThe Flight Attendant,โ a best comedy TV berth and also earned โThe Big Bang Theoryโ veteran Kaley Cuoco her first Globe nod. Little-known Pop TV earned five nominations โ all for the Canadian comedy โSchittโs Creek,โ which swept the comedy Emmy Awards last year. AdโThe Greatโ now faces โThe Flight Attendant,โ โSchittโs Creek,โ โEmily in Parisโ and โTed Lassoโ for bragging rights to best comedy TV series.

The 2021 Sundance Film Festival, which kicks off Jan. 28, is going largely virtual this year due to the pandemic. โJudas...โ is among the 2021 Warner Bros. films that are debuting simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max. Itโll be available for HBO Max subscribers in the U.S. starting Feb. 12.
Christopher Nolan calls Warnerโs streaming plan โa messโ
Christopher Nolan, one of Warner Bros.โ most important filmmakers, has come out strongly against the companyโs decision to debut its films on HBO Max and in theaters in 2021. The โTenetโ filmmaker told The Associated Press Monday that itโs not a good business decision and criticized how the company handled it. โIโve never seen everybody so upset about one particular decision,โ Nolan said. And itโs not a good business decision," Nolan said. With major markets like Los Angeles and New York closed, domestic ticket sales fizzled, and Warner Bros. and other studios responded by delaying the yearโs remaining major films.
In seismic shift, Warner Bros. to stream all 2021 films

The move follows Warner Bros.' decision to put โWonder Woman 1984โ on HBO Max in December, along with a concurrent theatrical run. Warner Bros.' move amounts to an acknowledgement that any full rebound for theaters is still a year or more away. Warner Bros. confirmed the films will be available to subscribers with no further charge. After a rocky rollout, HBO Max said in October that nearly 9 million people were using HBO Max, though 29 million had access to the streaming service as part of their HBO subscriptions.
Zemeckisโ โThe Witchesโ heads to HBO Max for Halloween
The Robert Zemeckis adaptation of โRoald Dahlโs The Witchesโ has found a new home on HBO Max this month just in time for Halloween. Warner Bros. said Friday that โThe Witchesโ will debut on the subscription streaming service, owned by parent company WarnerMedia, on Oct. 22. Dahlโs 1983 novel about an orphaned boy who discovers a coven of witches that hate children was previously adapted for the big screen in 1990 by director Nicolas Roeg. It starred Angelica Huston, Mai Zetterling and Rowan Atkinson and was a box office flop, despite its critical acclaim. This new version has actor Jahzir Bruno playing the boy who must try to stop the witches from turning the world's children into mice.

Whoโs ready to take a nostalgic cab ride to Bel-Air one more time? Actor Will Smith shared a couple photos via Instagram with his castmates from the hit 90โฒs sitcom โThe Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,โ promoting a reunion special that will make its way to HBO Max, CNN reported. The reunion special was taped on Sept. 10, which was on the same day as the 30th anniversary of the showโs debut, according to CNN. He also paid tribute to the late James Avery on his account, who played โUncle Phil.โAccording to CNN, the reunion special is being billed as a โfunny and heartfelt night of music, dancing and surprise guests." The reunion special will premiere on Thanksgiving on HBO Max.
Selena Gomez cooks up summer series for upcoming HBO Max
LOS ANGELES โ Selena Gomez will put her quarantine cooking skills on display in a 10-episode series for the upcoming streaming service HBO Max. The actress and singer, who said sheโs been spending more time in the kitchen during the coronavirus pandemic, also is an executive producer for the untitled project, HBO Max said Tuesday. โIโve always been very vocal about my love of food. Food charities will be highlighted by the show, HBO Max said. WarnerMediaโs new streaming service is scheduled to debut May 27, with Gomezโs series set to air this summer.
