An investigation is underway after a man shot his ex-girlfriend and then was stabbed by her current boyfriend while trying to shoot him in the Aldine area, deputies with Harris County Sheriff’s Office said.

Aldine ISD hands out laptops, hotspots ahead of virtual start to school year
HOUSTON – Like many school districts in the Houston-area, the Aldine Independent School District is going to begin the school year with virtual learning. In order to meet the needs of students in the district and bridge the digital divide, Aldine ISD officials handed out Chromebooks and hotspots to hundreds of families Monday. The drive-thru distribution event took place at Aldine High School Monday afternoon ahead of the district’s Aug. 17 start date. District officials said more than 5,000 families signed up for the event and each family got one set of devices. With such a high need among students in the district, officials say they will plan a second event to hand out devices to more students.

Nimitz grad Michael Thomas talks homecoming with Texans, Nimitz HS, George Floyd
The former Nimitz High School standout signed with the Houston Texans back in April after spending last season with the New York Giants. In his short time being officially back in Houston, Thomas didn't waste any time reaching out to his community. "I just want to say congratulations to all the 2020 seniors who are graduating from high school," Thomas said during the video. No, this is not the vision you had as freshmen with nerves and scared of what high school would be like. "I always have love for Aldine," Thomas said.

13-year-old girl and man involved in violent crash after suspected carjacking, police say
HOUSTON – Authorities are investigating after they said they believe teen girl and man were involved in a violent carjacking in Aldine overnight. That’s when they said a wild chase began with the suspect behind the wheel reaching speeds of more than 100 mph. Police said a man and a 13-year-old girl in the car ended up crashing on Aldine Bender near Miranda. Investigators said the girl may have planned the carjacking, setting up a meetup, and then the man stole the vehicle at gunpoint. HPD handled the arrest and aggravated robbery charge, and Precinct 1 deputies are handling taking the charge of pursuit/failure to yield.
Driver leaving bar dies after striking fire hydrant, fence, sheriff says
When they arrived at the scene, deputies located a single sedan, Gonzalez said. According to deputies, it appears the sedan left the roadway, striking a fire hydrant and then a fence before flipping and landing near the complex. Family members first thought Mize had once again been arrested for DWI, only to find it was his crash. Residents reported hearing a speeding vehicle before the crash, Gonzalez said. When asked if the woman was involved in the crash, Gonzalez said they are unsure but still investigating the crash.
